   I'm just wondering, would it be possible to use Forge on my server without requiring Forge on the client's side?

   If you used only server side mods, yes.
   
   The thing is that server side mods for forge are basically just bukkit plugins with less features. If you want any of the cool forge things, like adding new items and stuff, you need the client.
