Hi! First of all, this is my first day here at the forums, so excuse me if I'm doing something wrong. (Like posting in the wrong board) So, I've been running a Minecraft server for a few weeks now, on my local network, just for myself. But now, I want to make a public server. So, I downloaded CraftBukkit server and I started to mess around with it. I discovered that it is actually the same principle as the 'normal' Minecraft server. Because I am a newb, I don't know what plugins I need to make a nice server with good protection and nice features, like a shop and such. So, I'm wondering if you guys could tell me some plugins which I just must have, so my players will like it and stick at my server. Thx~! PS: The server is SMP. I've been playing for a pretty long time at SMP servers.
Well this is my plugin list that is mainly a Admin Plugins and a few others, it also keeps my ram to a low-ish. Hope this helps answering your question.

Well they come and go, my main priority is building projects and structures and it takes time, and since my server is not 24/7 the window of opportunity is a advantage and a disadvantage, any many of the project builders i have met are addicts to lego building, like me. And my hint is to be a good server administrator and choosing your administrative staff correctly, ie: they help people, and help manage trolls coming on.
You should use Essentials, iConomy, WorldEdit and WorldGuard and you need a permission plugin. I recommend bpermissions. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/bpermissions/ It's easy to set up and is very powerful.
