When will CraftBukkit for 1.3 be released?

With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

    bukkit already knows im sure

new builds error to player events

2284 the last build that didnt throw these errors

There seems to be chat api changes in the new builds I beleave.

The problem is in 2285 they removed PlayerChatEvent to replace it with AsyncPlayerChatEvent.

If you replace the now deprecated PlayerChatEvent with an old one, it runs fine. Thats how I'm rolling for now :(
Removing it flat-out made absolutely no sense; it eliminates any support for 90% of plugins created more than a day ago.

Just being polite and all, does anyone knnow when it will be out?

All I have to say is this:
These guys only get paid by our donations, and I will bet you that our donations probably go into getting new software and computers, NOT into their wallet.

    These guys see NO money.

Yet they spend countless amount of hours doing something they are never getting paid for. Why? So you UNGRATEFUL people can have a better multiplayer experience. You can easily play multiplayer without bukkit. The server I am admin on, which if you want to know which server that is, please PM me, is currently running. We have one map, no commands other then the admins(who get the OP commands) and we are having a grand old time. Are we waiting patiently for bukkit? Most of us yes. Because it makes the experience BETTER!

    Picture this:
Because of the ungrateful commenters on this thread, Bukkit says "you know what f*** it. We are shutting bukkit down. There will be no 1.3 update."

How bad would you guys feel then. So even though this is cliche.....If you don't have something nice to say to the people who spend countless unpaid hours doing something nice for, don't say anything at all.

This is why we can't have nice things.

No ETA on a RB yet. Still working out some issues. Some plugin devs are going to want to run the latest dev builds to see if they get the console warning that exists in 2287+.

Seeing as EvilSeph said that the first RB for Bukkit is simply something that compiles and runs that's probably not going to happen.

This is not the place to argue; please keep the discussion focused on the update and comments about 1.3.

I think sir, you need to read the context behind yeti's enraged post. Its not directed at bukkit, but at those who keep asking "when is it out?" and saying "you have had 3 whole days to write this complicated piece of software, whats wrong with you." What I got out of his post was that he was sticking up for the bukkit team (in his own way).

Since it clearly flew over your head I'll enlighten you. That statement by him was made sarcastically. If it were true the RB would already be out as they have versions that do indeed compile and run (and have had for many days now). I can understand not seeing the sarcasm when it was initially said, as sarcasm does not convey well via text. However at this point it should be obvious to everyone. The (sarcastic) statement was made because people were already whining/crying/complaining about wanting to know when it would be released.

BTW. Using dev biuld, and I have been up for over a day now with no problems. Plugins are BOSEconomy, ChestShop, WorldGuard, WorldEdit, PermissionsEx. The devBuilds are getting alot more stable. My advice to all (from just another user like you guys,) Very thorough backup, and try to update to dev. If you don't backup though, you take your life in your own hands.

alot bitched including me here for a dev build we got it run the one thats best for you and we all knew a stable rb would take a while im glad to be running the 1.3 and say thx to bukkt and its devs

This will be an interesting question. Nothing to do with the bukkit team, but for the plugin developers.
How many of yoo are planning or already updating your plugins so that theyre compatible with 1.3.1 RB. If they will already be compatible what plugin did you dev and what updates are you planning on bringing us? Maybe a few things to do with emeralds would be nice! :D

In how many more days do you think the new RB will come out? I would love to know!

Thanks for all the hard work that you guys are putting into this project. I really appreciate how great my experience has been with Bukkit and on my server to be completely honest. Having bukkit has been a bonus, one that has brought and allowed a lot more fun for my friends and I. I don't run a huge server but, I do enjoy playing using mods through bukkit. Take it a day at a time and perfect what you guys need to, I am here to cheer you guys on and tell you thank you for doing this even if it gets you no money, etc. You guys deserve to be paid for all of the hard work.
