So when i set my IP in the server.properties file it wouldn't run on the port. So i left that field blank and now it runs fine... it runs on "*:25565". What would I type to get onto my server?

*Assuming a standard home setup using a router with NAT*

For you or another computer on your local network, you would use its private IP address. Its typically a 192.168.1.xxx address.

For people outside your network, they would use your public IP address. You can get your public address by viewing this site http://www.whatismyip.com/. Assuming you have port forwarding setup correctly.

Yes, I have. So I connect via my private IP and others connect to the same server via my public IP?

It may suck but, if you are having problems, you can use it for a short while so you actually have a server up.

If it is a large server then it may be awkward but if it is just a group of friends, it shouldn't be to much hassle.

http://no-ip.com :) download their automatic updater, and ti will update to your dynamic IP, just give them the free host you make that points to your IP.

so you cant set static internal IPs?

if you cant then your kinda stuck. you'd either need a new router, or a new ISP
