    Hi,
I am thinking about buying a computer for my minecraft server. I have been having it hosted for about a year now but they don't offer enough and I want to have ALOT of ram for my server. I was thinking about getting 400-500 slots and maybe 40 plugins. I would also have my pc on 24/7 for the server so I may need the pc to have water cooling.
    Thanks
    Alec

    Key issues.
    • From the "buying a computer" bit, it sounds like it'll be hosted at home.
    • A lot of RAM? Look into a dedicated server.
    • 400-500 slots, as I said, probably at home? Probably impossible.

You need like a custom built computer.
    CPU: Intel Xeon 8-Core
RAM: 64 GB (most mobos support only 32gb)
Motherboard: Supermicro (research a bit-needs to support 64GB of ram)
    Internet: 1GB/second Upload/Download speed

This is the basis of a one computer server holding 600 MAX players with 20% lag
Most servers with 1000+ cap have multiple (extremely good) computers connected by a bungee cord (google it) server.

EDIT: Then again. Budget. At LEAST 3,000 American dollars if not 5,000

Sarkamking6 100 at most. Even then, no one would have to be using your internet at all.

According to that, your server could support between 10 and 22 players on that connection. Remember that paid dedicated hosts usually have multiple 100Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s fibre uplinks.

I've seen that website myself and it seems fishy. No way a company will offer all the ram you want for only $20

Pay for it bro. Call your ISP and tell them you want fiber Internet with speeds of 100 Mb/s. It WILL NOT be cheap.

Niknea I thought it was fishy too. But I tried it, I have it right now. And it works fine. :) It's 100% what they said.

"Infinite RAM" Oh, so are you using my RAM too? Like, the RAM in my computer? Because there isn't infinite RAM in the world.

Jade Figure of speech. Lol ik that. What I'm saying is that no one will use more than 20 GB's of RAM. Sorry for just making a suggestion. Just a easy way to save money. :)

Internet speed is the issue for you. Not router.

So I have to pay much more per month?

Depends on the host and ISP. Just rent a Dedi or VPS. It's cheaper in the long run.

"it" isn't very descriptive. Elaborate what you'd like to know about.
