Trying to make my server run better.

Alright here is the thing guys.
1. I am running a server off my computer while playing.
2. The users on my server are having crashing errors, freezing, lag. Two of which are in the same house as me.
3. I am running my server off a .bat file with the command string as such :

"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar

4. My system specs:
Ram: 8gb DDR 3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.00 GHz ( Quad Core )
Hard Drive: 1 TB running at an unknown RPM ( Have not gotten around to checking it.)

5. I am running quite a few mods though the lag has always happened even before I switched to a bukkit server. Also, I am running off of hamachi

My question: Who can I make it more smooth for the players on my server?

 

If you are running your server from a home computer is most likely the internet connection. There's nothing you can do but get a better internet connection or purchase a VPS and use that.

How can I change that?

 

2.8Mb/s is fine if you have like a couple people on your server (2-4) as far as I can tell.

 

Is there no way to lift the upload rate?

Are there any VPN providers that I would be better off with other then Hamachi?
