A lot of people have been asking about putting customized modifications on their Bukkit servers. Do you think we should support them?

Just saw your message. The math Captcha is better!

You mean programming the modifications?Or if we should provide support for them?

Also, I was thinking of quickly whipping up a helpTicket plugin that, when you type /newticket, it sends your plugin list, CB and OS, and a section of the chat log to us, which will aid us in providing help.

The only problem is, where/how to handle incomming requests?

We had been discussing this, but I was thinking about setting up a separate section on my own website with a ticket handling system lol.

    @M1sT3rM4n
My idea is that they would recieve a ticket ID or a request ID, and they would just give us the ticket/request ID.

This then goes back to our original discussion of how to better handle help requests.
    Tickets vs. Forum.

The only thing I dislike about tickets, is that people will ask the same question more often then in a forum...

And the fact that they needed to go to other places to get help when this forum is fine.

If you are able to create an API where they can use a request system, that would be cool.

@M1sT3rM4n Perhaps we should continue this discussion in PMs

Also, I was thinking that we could set up a PHP handler for incoming requests from the plugin...

I got a solution for mine without coding. Just using WorldGuard now. Not actually what I wanted, but close enough. But thanks for your help.

    What's your upload speed?

    XtenD

    1gbit upload\download (its local server) (60+ players)
also 100mbit download\upload on external network. (Not a lot users came from that network 10-15+ players)
Also on server plays pirate client (Yes, they too local) players. Server is on Offline-Mode w\o whitelist.
I think to delete such plugins as: AdminCMD, Lockette, PeX. And replace they (CommandBook,LWC,bPermissions or BukkitPerms)

Lol, you are running that kind of server off only one hard drive? SATA 7200 RPM too I bet lmao.

    That's your problem!

EDIT: Oh god, that CPU is weak, nvm.

I think it would be nice if @Plague could sticky this thread...

Hey, does anyone know a plugin that can reduce bandwidth usage?

I don't think as a mod I can make a decision about having an ad stickied, good will of the group notwithstanding. Ask an admin.

Depending on what you are looking for. Bandwidth usage is usually fixed.

*shrugs I don't care. I'll just dig up the thread if it gets buried.

Well we have a 100 player server with loads of plugins and the network usage is ridiculously huge. I remember seeing a plugin that claimed to change the chunk load mechanics etc in order to reduce this. I can't find it now though :/

There are plugins that can reduce lag, such as NoLagg and Ptweaks and those that increase FPS (mods, such as Optifine) but none that I know of, that reduces bandwidth usage.

Oh I remember now! It increased the duration that players were sent the chunk information I think, thus reducing bandwidth usage

    @godgodgodgo
    Exactly,
I personally use NoLagg, but you can go with either one.

Side Question: Is there a bukkit dev build for the minecraft release yet?

    Gracias, pero hay uno problema.

Any reason why the link will not initiate the download? I'm going to try firefox, see if that fixes it.

EDIT: Works in firefox. Very odd.

You can also set a border limitation that reduces random chunk generation.

    godgodgodgo

    It's all pre generated ;)
