The permissions situation is confusing at best (i think) with many different versions doing a simmilar thing, and now (finally) the bukkit team seem to have released an official permissions plugin called superperms for bukkit which i think is a good thing, as there is now something official to work from.

Now the problem is that although I would say permissions is one of the most important server plugins there is, i cannot find the Superperms thread. I consider myself to be fairly literate with thease sorts of things, and i managed to find and download Superperms once, after a lot of searching.

Basically, what i am trying to say is that the new permissions system needs to be better advertised and should be on the bukkit news forum. I would have thought something as popular as this would be easy to find. If i am just extremely ignorant about something please correct me :)

I completely agree with you on that one. Currently the only way I find the superperms thread is if I get an alert from a post in that thread.

Spuerperms isn't a plugin in itself, but rather an API that's within CraftBukkit rb1000. To actually manage the permissions you would probably use a plugin like permissionsBukkit.

Ah, ok it was a little confusing given the lack of information on the subject. So is PermissionsBukkit actually official or is it just another 'freelance' plugin that will soon be outdated like the other permissions systems?

Also, is there a way wo could better advertise this, and do you think i should email the bukkit team? and could you please post the links for the Superperms and PermissionsBukkit threads?

PermissionsBukkit is reccomended by the Bukkit team. The link is here: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/ad...-1-official-default-groups-plugin-1000.26785/. You can however use any permissions plugin that supports the Superperms API.

The permissions FAQ is here: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/permissions-faq.25080/. I'm not sure you'll find much there though.

Also if you're interested in developing plugins then this may help too: http://wiki.bukkit.org/HUGE_Plugin_Tutorial#Permissions

One problem you may find currently is a lot of plugin still don't support the new Superperms API. PermissionsBukkit however provide their own Bridge to Permissions 3.x, so you should be able to use that for plugins that haven't updated yet.

Yes I had already downloaded PermissionsBukkit and Superperms bridge beforehand, but i had lost the link to the thread, so thanks a ton for that. also thanks for the link to the development page because i was thinking of linking a plugin I know of into an extensible GUI, but i know very little Java.
