    I'm trying to make a bukkit server, and I followed the instructions on the wiki for installation, but I keep getting a message saying "unable to access jarfile craftbukkit.jar" and I'm not sure how to fix it. Any help out there?

    1) Make sure the batch file is in the same directory as craftbukkit.jar
    2) Make sure you renamed craftbukkit-1.2.5-R2.0.jar to craftbukkit.jar
    3) Make sure you didn't rename it craftbukkit.jar.jar. Easy way to tell is when your looking at it in the folder view, if you can't see .BAT on the end of your batch file, but you see .JAR on the end of craftbukkit, then you have named it .jar.jar

    Start Bukkit
    Bukkit GUI

    make new folder for example on desktop and put to that folder all files you download

    download craftbukkit from here
    http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/view/01097_1.2.5-R2.0/

    download bukkit gui from here
    http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/bukkitgui/

    follow this 3 steps
    http://i.imgur.com/J9ey6.png

    and your done

    =========================================

    ( >'.')> ( >'.')> ( >'.')> BAT FILE PART <('.'< ) <('.'< ) <('.'< )

    =========================================

    but if u really need/want to stay with bat files

    make new folder for example on desktop and put to that folder all files you download

    download craftbukkit from here
    http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/view/01097_1.2.5-R2.0/

    now you rename your craftbukkit.1.2.5-R2.0.jar file to craftbukkit.jar

    here are 4 different bat files download them all and put them to same folder

    run1 java 6 32bit ( >'.')> http://www32.zippyshare.com/v/36778740/file.html
    run2 java 7 32bit ( >'.')> http://www32.zippyshare.com/v/14686885/file.html
    run3 java 6 64bit ( >'.')> http://www32.zippyshare.com/v/6449618/file.html
    run4 java 7 64bit ( >'.')> http://www32.zippyshare.com/v/58488266/file.html

    run each run file 1 by 1 for sure 1 will work for you

    and if you want to have gui but that is a plugin than download this 2 plugins and drop them to plugins folder
    http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/pail/
    http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/pailplus/ <('.'< ) not necessary

    to minimize console you may want to install this program called trayit!

    http://www.teamcti.com/trayit/trayit.htm

    just rightclick on window minimize button and choose place in system tray
    than click it again and choose tab "more"
    now check option "hide application from taskbar all the time, keep tray icon only"

    and now you would only right click taskbar and choose properties
    than next to hide icons click the bottom customize

    and now just next to your bukkit server choose always show

    Thank you Paswaru, I appreciate the prompt reply, and it helped a lot. Now I have another question. How do I update my bukkit server to the snapshot? I downloaded the update of craftbukkit, and the server will run fine. But I can't get on the server with my snapshot client.

    The bukkit team does not do builds for the snapshots. You will have to downgrade your client back to 1.2.5.

    Hi, I'm using the file craftbukkit-1.2.5-R3.0 to set up a server.
    I have a Windows 7 64-bit system with a 32-bit version of Java 7 (Update 4) and JavaFX.
    I deleted JavaFX in case this was messing things up.
    Java resides on my machine at C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe.

    I'm still having the "unable to access craftbukkit.jar" error. Here are my files.
    ( http://s16.postimage.org/8jux7w6k5/Craftbukkit_files.png )

    I've tried renaming craftbukkit-1.2.5-R3.0.jar to Craftbukkit (as above) and craftbukkit, and leaving it as-is, and changing the name in the bat file to match the long, versiony name of the craftbukkit filename.

    For the bat file, I've had it titled Run.bat (not with the .bat visible, but as above in the screenshot.) I've included several versions of the Java path, and
    @ECHO OFF
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar Craftbukkit.jar
    PAUSE
    Seems to work best--it gets me to the "unable to access craftbukkit.jar" error.
    If I use
    @ECHO OFF
    IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "%~dp0craftbukkit.jar"
    IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="86" java -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "%~dp0craftbukkit-0.0.1-snapshot.jar"
    PAUSE
    It gives me a similar message (after I moved the BUKKIT folder to my desktop):
    "unable to access jarfile C:\Users\User\Desktop|?Minecraft Server -- BUKKIT\craftbukkit.jar"

    By contrast, using
    Echo OFF
    SET BINDIR=%~dp0
    CD /D "%BINDIR%"
    "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar
    PAUSE
    or
    Echo OFF
    SET BINDIR=%~dp0
    CD /D "%BINDIR%"
    "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar
    PAUSE
    or
    Echo OFF
    SET BINDIR=%~dp0
    CD /D "%BINDIR%"
    java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar
    PAUSE
    seems to fail due to a path problem--they generate this error in the terminal window:
    The system cannot find the path specified.

    I looked for the GUI system mentioned in this thread by ZeroZX4, and get a 404 error.
    His run2 j7 32b file gives me the same "cannot find the path specified" error.

    One thing occured to me as I edited the file over and over. I put my BUKKIT folder into my
    Program Files (x86) folder, so as I edited and reedited the bat file, I needed to run notepad as admin,
    and click through lots of user access dialogs. So I tried moving the whole BUKKIT folder to the desktop,
    in case some access/permission problem was at the root of things, but no joy.

    Any help is much appreciated, thanks! I'm sure I'm missing something silly, but can't seem to find it.

    Echeddar
