Hey guys, Some of you may know me but anyway. I want to know something, Should I be worried about my 100% minecraft dedicated server? I have 24 GB's of RAM split in the following: 3 GB Os Memory 11 GB Minecraft Memory 10 GB Ram disk - 40% Full My server specs: i7 920 @ 2.66 Ghz 24 GB RAM 2 TB HDD 1 Gigabit Uplink Plugins: Auto message Block Door Block Hat Border Guard Chest Shop Clear Inventory Cook Me EC Flamethrower Entity Supressor Factions False Book (Block) False Book (Core) False Book (Extra) Glow Hat Grief Detector Grief Prevention HawkEye HiddenSwitch iConomy infiarrow Itemspawn Lag Meter Login Reward Lottery LWC Mail mcBans mChat mcMMO MCSL Plugin RToolkit mineQuery Mob Arena Mob Arena God Mob Disguise Modify World MonsterIRC MultiInv Multi Verse- Core MyHome MyWarp Permissions Bridge Permissions EX Player Status RedStone Clock Detector Server Log Saver Show Case Standalone Simple Player list Teleport Suite Vanilla Vault Votifier War Warrant Who Mode World Edit World Guard World Modes (58 Plugins I know...) Worlds:I have a Creative, Survival, VIP, Nether and Ender. All worlds have a limit on them with border guard. Survival is our biggest world totaling over (3.8 GB's) . We reset nether and ender every fornight. Also since every world is ramdisked we make sure that spawns aren't reloaded in the memory (not needed at all is it?) Mobs: Monsters are limited, Animals are not. Boottime: 6 Seconds / Restart time: 11 Seconds Bukkit Version: b1942 The Problem: Basically I'm a bit worried about how much minecraft memory my server keeps using. My server is getting active and getting around 20 - 40 players on at one time all day. When we hit around 30 players, RAM goes up from 2 GB Minecraft memory to 5 - 6 GB RAM (according to htop) Lagmeter shows: 88% free RAM. Isn't that a bit much? Think I could tweak some things? I have my server's java garbage collection running on all cores of the i7 920 we have (4 cores - hyperthreading (total 8 threads). And CPU load according to htop is at around: 35% -> with 15 players on and then rises to 70 - 100% with 30 players on. So I'm not fussed about CPU, it seems sufficient Want to play ? 5 to 6 GB with 30 players is indeed a bit much. Should be more like 3 to 4, depending on plugins. You have installed quite a lot of plugins, I'd guess that one or two of them are poorly written and eat up your RAM.
I agree, With mcMMO / Factions disabled it still rises :/ Great, my server also just crashed. :/ Removed command book and my RAM shot down (10%) (I did install additional plugins: playerstatus and an item plugin as thats all command book was used for) EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
Save RAM by avoiding using the /reload command, if you are using it. Most plugins don't handle it well enough and cause excessive object leakage.
I don't use it, mainly as PEX bugs out if I use it Just noticed that my RAM increases from 10 - 40 MB on every login a person would do. Even if in the same place on login. And no on logout the RAM is not recovered :/ Just incase if you are wondering: Start command: java -server -Xmn1G -Xms6G -Xmx11G -XX\:+UseParallelOldGC -XX\arallelGCThreads\=8 -XX\:+AggressiveOpts -Djline.terminal\=jline.UnsupportedTerminal -jar /mc/craftbukkit.jar nogui Guys can anyone help me? I'd like to sort this soon. EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
RAM exists to be utilised does it not? If you're not experiencing lag problems then there's nothing to worry about.
I keep getting a crash every hour or so (Thats why my server reboots everyhour) The RAM just keeps filling up till htop reports 8 GB used, (Lag meter reports 2GB) do I have a memory leak? Fixed with Ant59 Maker of Warrant Anyway. Thanks for the help anyway. EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
