Selection Mods - Options?

My biggest complaint with protection mods (like Residence, Regios, etc) is that selecting the area/cuboid can be pretty frustrating, especially with large/complex areas.

WorldEdit has a beautiful client side addon that shows a transparent 3D box in game of the current selection. This is amazing. The mod "PreciousStones" outlines the selection with with glass, replacing the borders of the selection with glass ... again, a nice visual representation.

Are there any mods that excel or specialize in creating selections? Installing a mod like WorldEdit for just the selection aspect seems like a waste, and we try to keep our server as lean as possible mod-wise.
