    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • If the save file errors, it will now be preserved rather then overwritten, it will be renamed res-ERRORED.yml, the plugin will now disable itself upon error as well unless the StopOnSaveFault option in the config is set to false.

    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

    Thank you for great plugin.

I always wanted plugin like this.

but it is difficult for ordinary gamers to use selection tools.

    can you add simple method?

I suggest one command like /sethome or /setresidence to protect the area of admin-predefined size.

I just did a quick update for iConomy, but I didn't test it. Its on GitHub now though, give it a shot :)
Also, collision message should now tell you which residence it collides with, I had meant to do that for you a long time ago but I forgot lol... see if its good now :)

Good idea, I could probably design some sort of preset residence settings so that players can do one command creation :) Remind me again after the rent system is done.

Bit of a nooby question I think, and sorry if the answer has been posted before.

The question is, all of the non-ops on the server I host cannot open doors to buildings they didn't create, is it possible to make it so that they can enter doors that people want them to enter, but still make it so they cannot place/delete blocks and water/lava.

    Thanks.

In case you haven't seen this:
    http://ico.nexua.org/Main/API#toc11

Helped me get my iConomy plugin up to speed, if you're still having issues.

Also on a side note, is there a new issue with admins/ops not being able to create more than the max residences? I'm getting complaints from my ops, and I think I ran into the issue once too.

Hello! I use the Alpha 2.0 version of the plugin. I only have 1 issue.
I use this plugin with permissions 2.7.2. I'm a admin and my permission node is set to '-*' but i can't set a enter/leave message or remove a message with command (ex.: /res message <residence> <enter/leave> <message>). It say : "Owner is not allowed to set enter / leave messages.". All command work except /res message command.
All residence are created and owned by me.

I have tried with no result to add my group 'Admins' in the config.yml with the permission "messaging: canChange: true".

    Sorry for my bad English.
    Thx! for this great plugin!

Think I found the issue with ops, grab the latest snapshot :)

Think I found the message problem, it should work now in the latest snapshot :)
The v1.2.8 release isn't updated for the latest iConomy, you'll need to use the 2.0 version if you want buy/sell to work. 2.0 will the be only version soon anyway :)

@bekvon Is the latest snapshot *only* for iConomy 5.0+? That would be...quite sad to hear, as roughly 90% of servers wont update to iConomy 5.0 yet, seeing how very very many very important plugins do not support it.

Try to indent 'World' by one more space so it is on the same level as Global.

We use Multiverse + Residences and just use the Multiverse setting to turn off PvP. So I dont know if the fault in your config is the only reason! I noticed myself though, that the Global: section doesnt work as good as per-world sections, so try it!

    what is the difference between:

    # Specifys the flags that are applied to other groups for this residence, at creation.
    and
    # Specifys the flags that are applied at residence creation for players of this group.

Im trying to make it so every flag comination is pre-protected for all my residences but when someone creates one and you do /res limits itsnameiswhatever its doesn't show anything after flags:

    here is my config file

    http://pastie.org/1865161

my config is parsed correctly and it is set up like your wiki states but whenever someone creates a res and you do /res info on the res none of the flags show up, I put like 2 hours and 1600 lines of code into that config file for nothing apparently lol...

suggestions: after putting a res up for sale, show the price you set in the "res for sale" message.
show the sale price when getting info with the info item.

when inside a main zone, is it necessary to have to type <mainzone>.<subzone> for all the subzones? can we not just type the subzone name?

    Is the following possible? :
People don't have permission to create a residence, but i want to create them for them (big residences), transfer ownership to them, but then they should be able to manage, create and delete subzones within these residences.

edit: okay i found a way, but it's kinda ugly...
    Code:
           # Information about the Residence zone that the player can define.
           Residence:
               # Determins if this group can create residences or not.
               CanCreate: true
               # The maximum number of Residences a player can have.
               MaxResidences: 0
               # The maximum number of physical areas a residence can have.
               MaxAreasPerResidence: 2
               # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, East to West (X).
               MaxEastWest: 0
               # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, North to South (Z).
               MaxNorthSouth: 0
               # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, High to Low (Y).
               MaxUpDown: 0
                # The maximum recursive depth that subzones can go.
                # A subzone within a subzone within the Residence zone would be a depth of 2.
                # Set to 0 to disable subzones.
               SubzoneDepth: 3

    @bekvon

I hate to bring up another (minor) issue, but I think /res message remove enter|leave is supposed to be smart about which residence you are in and doesn't seem to be. Might be something to look at when you have a moment. It works, as long as you specify the residence name.

Awesome job on keeping your plugin up to date; a lot of servers rely on it. I was so happy I could finally fix some res colliding issues we were having.

    bekvon

You did it right :) There was some missing code that was causing it to not read the group default section, try the latest snapshot and it should work now :)

Added the sell amount to the message, as for the zone name thing, I would probably have to modify every command by a little to do that, so I won't be doing that right now, but perhaps in the future :)

I don't know why your having save issues, as 90% of the save code is now done by Bukkits YML code  Im literally just taking all of the Residences and their variables and throwing them to Bukkit yml code. Out of curiosity, what OS are you using on your server, wondering if some funky file permission are preventing it from saving or something... especially since i noticed further back on one of your posts you said you had item loss at one point, which would be completely unrelated to this plugin... either way, whatever the bug is I'm sure its something obscure that will take some thinking. :)
Yea, this was something i had meant to do with messaging, but for some reason never got to it. I'll get it done eventually. Glad your colliding issues are better. :)

@bekvon May I ask again if the latest snapshot is now iConomy 5+ only?

Yea, it is :( its really hard to interface with 2 different versions of the same plugin. I could probably do it, but it seems a waste of time since everyone will eventually go to 5...

No that's fine! Just needed to know so I can...update once all are at 5.0 as well. And now I hope that is soon, as I want the fixed Residences stuff ;)

Thanks for the work on this!

    Update:
Hey all, I went ahead and moved Residence 2.0 out of Alpha testing. :D I'm also going back to proper version numbers for Residence releases. I will now provide a "Stable" version of the mod that will have proper version numbering and will be the recommended version. I will also provide a "Development" version which will be the snapshots from GitHub that will contain the latest changes and fixes, but may not necessarily be fully tested and ready for release. Hopefully this will help to restore some sanity to the mod :) The next thing I will be working on for the v2.1 release will be the rent system that will allow you to rent land temporarily to other people. Bug fix versions may come between 2.0 and 2.1 as well :)

I just added a check that will cause Residence to not enable its economy system unless iConomys version number is 5+ :) Its the best I can do for now until everyone else has upgraded their plugins. This should at least prevent people who havn't upgraded to the newest iConomy from getting mass console spam as well as breakage.

Congratulations on the progress! This is by far my favourite plugin and it's great to see 2.0 being brought to stable :). Thank you for all the work and friendly support bekvon!

    Wicked logo too!

Great thanks for looking it over and letting me know, I was about to lose it because I made that config twice but the first time If forgot to save it lol

I'll go ahead and update to Newest residence to fix that read error! Keep up the good work!
Cool new logo by the way, I'll shout a link on my server site for you!

Also could you maybe include a feature to disable the residence overlap check perhaps for certain permissions groups? So you can over lap your own residences and the most recent one takes precedence so you don't need to create subzones and can be lazy ;) ?

Well your plugin might be conflicting with one of my other plugins (see my signature)
I would test exactly wich one but I am afraid thats not possible since a weird bug made my server completely inaccesible.
Its an error of wich the likes I ain't seen before.

Dunno why that started popping up but its probably not related to the plugin.
If you want I can give you my exact files.
Or you can test any of the plugins in my signature for incompatibility.

    EDIT:
Host company router fail. Their bad, that problem was resolved now.
Il see if I can find out an incompatibility between addons. But first, remove all and leave only residence. If its just your plugin it should work fine without the others.
    EDIT1:
I have checked and residence on its own works completely fine on its own.
Saves occur perfectly. Without my other plugins.
Plugin incompatibility is definantly why it wasn't working. Question is wich one.
I will add plugins one by one and see wich one prevents save like before.
EDIT2: Whatever those morrons did my world is now switching chunks and thus my base just got split up in two and god knows where my first part is.
I am refraining from restarting untill it stops ripping my map to shreds.
I did learn so far tho that the following plugins did not conflict:
    Dynmap, iConomy(duh), iConomychestshop, LWC, mcMMO
But I guess we already knew that.
