    Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
    As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.​
    As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.​
    This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.​

    Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.​
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.

    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.

    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.

    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

    Lets say if I have a house that is in a shape of a cross (t) And I only want to protect the t and not create a protection box around the T so that other people can build below the cantilever of the t-house.

    How do I do that? I tried messing around with this plug in and found out only boxes are possible. And i saw this command:

    /res area <add/remove> <residence> <areaID> - Add or remove areas to the residence. These can overlap with areas of the same residence.

    Meaning you can add afew protection blocks into 1 residence. IF possible, I can protect 2 cuboids and then combine them into 1.

    ~Aaaaanyways, Thanks for this great plug in. I really wanted to find one that will require the person to pay for how many land they take :D


    IIRC there's a permission config in the yml file that allows non-OP users to create subzones.

    I have no problems at all with saving.

    A thing to check:

    - Do you have leases enabled?
    - If yes: What do you have set as lease time for each group?

    I had set up all groups except the admin group. So whenever I went and made a residence, it disappeared / didnt save on the next interval! As the system saw 'no lease set - time to delete it'

    Hey all, done some more work on 2.0 :) Also, I have been reading all of your posts and taking notes, but there's just so many posts that I'm not going to reply to them individually, as it will suck too much time away from coding and my life :D

    Snapshot Updates:
    - Fixed mcMMO incompatibility issues.
    - Added upgrade code to convert a 1.X save file to 2.0.
    - Restored some case insensitivity in relation to player flags (player name no longer sensitive).
    - Fixed item blacklisting.
    - Fixed bug when checking if area was within limits.
    - Fixed flow flag.
    - Miscellaneous other stuff I've forgotten I did :)

    Add this to your config file when upgrading to latest snapshot:
    ResidenceVersion: 2
    This is a version field that will determine whether or not your using a 1.X config or the new 2.0 config. If this field is missing, it will assume your using a incompatible 1.X config and will rewrite the default 2.0 config (after making a backup).

    Known Issues:
    - Fire Spread flag is not working, seems it may be a bukkit issue, more troubleshooting needed.

    Expect many more bug fixes, cleanups, and changes regarding things you've posted about in the next week or so :)
    I also hope to put 2.0 into BETA here sometime this week now that the upgrade code is in. :D

    Hey, someone asked a question a few pages back and I believe you misinterpreted his questions:
    He asked if it was possible, when you get around to having leases on sub-zones, for someone owning a residence to set the lease for the sub-zones of that residence.

    You answered that people could pay their lease but not set them.

    I think that the actual question was "Could you make it possible for someone to create an hotel ?"

    Maybe I am the one misinterpreting, but this would be a great feature:
    A regular player creates a residence, claims it and then create sub-zones (room1 to roomX) set lease to $10 every 24h and places them on "rent". Other players can come, and rent a room.He gains then their rent money. When they stop paying, or /res release Hotel.room1 the sub-zones goes back under the control of the owner.

    You already talked about this behaviour for residences that would go back to "the server" if the lease wasn't paid, but maybe you could use such a code to establish generic rules for all residences, and add a fake user being the server. or linked to an iConomy account.

    When you stop your server do you then type stop or just click at the cross because it dont save if you not type stop

    Nice to see a lot of fixes! I have to ask though, why don't use use some sort of versioning on your ALPHA? I mean, all the updates so far and it's still 2.0 ALPHA, would help to know what version of 2.0 ALPHA people use.

    EDIT: I just tried the new version out and it seems to work nicely! The x,y,z limits when creating a residence now work properly :). However, the amount of residences I can create seems to still not get checked. I created 6 residences so far while I'm only allowed to build 4 (and no, I'm not residence.admin).

    Seeing I use mcMMO I guess il update and see if that could cause the save disfunctionality.
    Or atleast the abilities / xp gain (if bugged) didn't realy pay attention to that.

    And I see no reason to give any group special treatment so I only set up global settings.
    Global max lease time is "30".

    The problem is that the system plainly refuses to update the save file.
    No error message.

    I don't do eigther.
    I go to my admin panel and click stop server.

    EDIT: I tried the newest version.
    No difference exept extreme lag now affects my server.
    Like literaly 5 seconds go by before an action I did gets done.
    EDIT2: According to my logs no saves or lease checks were exectued even though those saves / checks specificaly were set to be done every minute.

    I upgraded and none of my residences are active anymore, I added ResidenceVersion: 2 to the config file under Global, should it be somewhere else, is that why it's not working?

    I'll tell you again: Add the group you belong in into the config file. Add a lease thing to your group. It will work.

    Quick way to check? Rightclick on a freshly made residence and CHECK when it's lease expires. It is the same day, the same hour, it will NOT save on the next save-interval.

    Else it can only be a folder permissions things.

    I just did, wish I could test tho but this plugin crashed my dedibox more times than anything else and I have to wait about an hour for the thing to start up again. -_-

    I will upload the new config as soon it gets back up and try again.

    Im not an expert on java and my knowlage of it is minimal.
    But I only get stuff like that when you did it wrong.

    My advice would be download the newest default config.
    And use that as an example to find out what you broke.

    To get back to your lands not loading.
    There is also a possibility your save file is broken.
    Check your plugin folder's "res.yml" and "res.yml.bak".

    If they are empty it means your server loaded correctly and the plugin did too only your save files were wiped clean.

    I found a little, but anoying bug in Residence 1.28 in 1.5
    If you set the flag move = false and someone goes into your residence he gets kicked from the server with following message: You moved too quickly :( (Hacker?)
    If he reconnects he gets kicked again (same reason). The only solution is to remove the flag.
    Would be nice if you could fix that

    wow why is the protection/flag system so complicated, it literally took me like an hour to get my defaults the way I wanted them to actually proctect things since everything is turned off by default..., esentially default residences are just a name and a welcome message thats it

    other than that I love this plugin just it needs simple flags like I zone , instead of settign every single flag NO why not just be able to select that flags u want to use?

    Bukkit 740 with your 1.28 Plugin.
    My Plugins are:
    BigBrother, BorderGuard, Citizens, ContainerProtect, Essentials, Falsebook, iConomy, MAgicCarpet,
    Minecart Mania, Multiverse, Quickbelt, Realshop, SpawnControl, Sponge, Stargate, WorldEdit, XSigns

    Quite a long list, but I don't think that one of these will cause the effect.

    I found another Plugin wich must be from one of the installed ones: WallClimber (Don't know where it come from!)

  26. I'm still using the old v1 1.2.8

    I've recently have had some trouble with residences being corrupt, infact i've had the same 2 residences corrupt in 2 days. They were both rather large residences in size. Just wondering if anyone has any light to shine on this.
