    MineQuest started out as a plugin to add some RPG-like progression to Minecraft. It had 8 (By default, now completely customizable) character classes (4 Combat, 4 Resource - also by default) and you gained experience by doing tasks related to the class (e.g. Warriors fight with a Sword, or WarMages cast WarMage Spells). All combat classes gained health when they went up in levels, and all classes gained related abilities at certain levels.

    An example of a custom class configuration is now available:

    Now MineQuest has grown to be a much bigger project than gaining abilities and extra health. It includes mobs that get harder over time based on a level adjustment (determined by active players in the server). It has built in economy(iConomy Supported)/town systems that are available if people so desire. Most likely the coolest thing so far is the quest system.

    Good Places to start in game are /minequest, /cubonomy (economy), and /quest (questing specific). Also poking around the help pages (Linked as more information below) gives some details about more advanced commands as well.

    MineQuest is equipped with a system that is being developed so that minecraft can have real instanced dungeons where a select party can teleport into a world that has traps, harder monsters, and special loot. When complete players are brought back to their original locations.

    These quests are completely customizable as they only load from a text file. MineQuest will search the bukkit directory for the appropriate .quest file when the quest is started. This means that anyone running a server could write a quest. Not just plugin developers!

    The spell system is nothing special, and I'm sure that others exist out there, but what really makes MineQuest unique is the complete package, dungeons and everything.

    That is absolutely perfect. Would the questing system and NPC system have any issues with Citizens? Furthermore, would the reputation and town system have any issues with regions? Thank you very much. I'm the lead developer of The Lord Of The Craft ( We usually make our own plugins but the quest system.. wow! Just wow.

    Just in case anyone else gets this issue, there was a problem with his config, but also a problem with the minequest.jar he was using. The one that comes with the discovery pack did not support the optional rogue class.

    I need help fast my server is based off this plugin..

    Craz... The mana_potion is nothing to really panick over. I hazard a guess that you are not running the Discovery Kit, DK, version of MQ. If you are just running the base CraftBukkit, CB, then you will always see this issue.

    The DK, is a modified version of CB that jmonk and his crew of coders made that allow new items to be used by the MQ community. If you are wanting to try using it, you are more than welcome to.

    The database being too old... you should not see that again after the first run.

    Mana potion is not what im worried about.
    Minequest does not work..

    Yes i have the latest MineQuest and Abilitys.
    only fix i seen was deleting minequest.sql from minequest folder wich creates a new sql and sets everyone that worked hard to be set to level 0, towns erased, store data erased..
    I can send my minequest.sql if that will help?

  10. Alright, I have a question. Is it possible to enable the Minequest plugin in one world, but not others? My original plan was to have a 'questing' world that was separate from the main world and other worlds.

    Use MineQuest.Quester permission on the world you want to have questing enabled on. Don't use it on the other worlds.

    Why cant i bind my abilities to my bow so that when it shoots an arrow it would cast the ability on what ever mob it hits

    Are you running ALL of Essentials? I know parts of that plugin conflict with MQ. I believe it is the spawn related portion.

    No I'm only running Essentials. None of the extra Essentials pluggins.

    WAIT! I don't have MySQL. do you think that has anything to do with it, Itan?

    EDIT: And, my friend said /heal with essentials, too. that modified his health, do you think it broke the plugin?

    I believe that this has to do with your ability configuration file. Have you edited this file at all? Please read over the following and check out

    Did anyone figure out why /town doesn't work? I can create towns without problem. The mobs disappear when they enter town and I can use the respawn command but when ever I use the /town command I get an error message stating that it's not a valid command.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I though when a town is created that no one other than the creator of the town or mayor could build on that land. Is it in the config file? If so what is the setting that needs to be changed.

    First off awesome pluggin, look forward to see its future development

    I'm having an issue with abilties, I installed the plugin and bound Fireball to my bow, however it appears i can only left click objects around me to cast Fireball; Shooting a creature does not cast the spell. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

    No, this was a known issue with 0.60. Try downloading 0.61 and let me know if it still doesn't work, because it should be fixed.

    I don't know if I fixed the armor or if I just don't have the problem, but armor is working for me with the new pack (0.11).

    Also fixed:
    *bows shooting
    *weapon damage
    *weapon durability

    Mana potions:
    Can you take a look in your thats where the affects of mana potions should be controlled.

    With the upcoming 1.8 , that will come along with NPCs and skills, i still, beg:

    Split up this awesome plugin into different plugins =P

    I would love to use this on my server, however it just lags too much , its too much events to process even if its just a simple if(!town.isActive()) return;. The quests and mercs system are too awesome, i would love to see those running separately, to avoyd lag.

    Is there anyone running a big server to tell me hows theyr performance running MQ ? In my server it lags alot =( I got a old MQ (i belive it was 0.40) and changed the code to disable all parts i didnt wanted, letting only avaliable quests, and it didnt lagged. However, it got outdated...

    I beg you jmonk :D Release this separately and this will be the ultimate 'combo' for RPG servers.

    Im still looking for future development, i still have hope that one day MQ will be split into different parts.

    If this is such an "awesome plugin", why do you continually ask for it to be broken? Also, if broken what then makes this the "ultimate 'combo'" for RPG servers? If this is already an awesome plugin, then it already IS the ultimate combo.

    Ziden, to be blunt: jmonk is not going to split the plugin. I know that I have told you this before, and multiple times. Please, refrain yourself from coming in to these forums and stirring up the dust asking for MQ to be split up into pieces. If MC1.8 deems portions of MQ as it is now to be removed, then it will be. And those will be the only parts removed from the plugin. The plugin as it stands is awesome by itself and reduces the overall number of plugins that people need to use.

    Also, if you are suffering from performance issues, please LET US KNOW! The plugin can only become better if performance issues are known about and then jmonk can look at either optimizing the code, or figure out what is causing the lag you are stating that you have.

    Yes, there is a config option disable_world which disables MQ on a comma separated list of worlds. The other option you have is to use Permissions to only give players MineQuest permissions on some worlds.

    Toshiro_Max: I am afraid I am not quite sure what you are talking about here. Are you on a server that is running this plugin and you cannot destroy dirt? Have you setup a quest that does not allow you to destroy dirt? Are you playing with the World Script that does not allow you to destroy dirt?

    Can you provide us with a bit more information please?
