    MineQuest - RPG System with Customizable Quests and Classes

    MineQuest started out as a plugin to add some RPG-like progression to Minecraft. It had 8 (By default, now completely customizable) character classes (4 Combat, 4 Resource - also by default) and you gained experience by doing tasks related to the class (e.g. Warriors fight with a Sword, or WarMages cast WarMage Spells). All combat classes gained health when they went up in levels, and all classes gained related abilities at certain levels.

    An example of a custom class configuration is now available:

    Now MineQuest has grown to be a much bigger project than gaining abilities and extra health. It includes mobs that get harder over time based on a level adjustment (determined by active players in the server). It has built in economy(iConomy Supported)/town systems that are available if people so desire. Most likely the coolest thing so far is the quest system.

    Good Places to start in game are /minequest, /cubonomy (economy), and /quest (questing specific). Also poking around the help pages (Linked as more information below) gives some details about more advanced commands as well.

    MineQuest is equipped with a system that is being developed so that minecraft can have real instanced dungeons where a select party can teleport into a world that has traps, harder monsters, and special loot. When complete players are brought back to their original locations.

    These quests are completely customizable as they only load from a text file. MineQuest will search the bukkit directory for the appropriate .quest file when the quest is started. This means that anyone running a server could write a quest. Not just plugin developers!

    The spell system is nothing special, and I'm sure that others exist out there, but what really makes MineQuest unique is the complete package, dungeons and everything.

    Problem: Players can get gold ingots (bars) and make a gold block, but after placing the gold block, if they break it, it vanishes and drops nothing.

    My highest players can only use stone picks, if that helps.

    Yes as i say , the startup is long because plugin push inside memory RAM much data, but i don't know what because database are not huge. I will be happy about this release (because when i tru to /reload all ; all people have : time out)

    How does the quest file work? where do i need to save him and as what type of file?

    Is saw this:
    Downloaded the world but there nothing happend so i guess i need that quest script also. where/how to save it?

    For some reason, the properties file is not being generated.

    radarwolf: To save the quest file, just copy it into whatever text editor you like, save it as, and put it in your bukkit directory. Then to start your quest just use /startquest dungeon.

    Also, don't forget to grab the world file and put it in your main bukkit directory as well. without the worldfile you will do nothing as well.

    Guenael: There is nothing you can do other than what you have done which is notify jmonk about it :)

    guenael : i have athat message aswell on other plugins i think it just means that they changed the name sin coding that reverse to that action is changed like the error says

    @ dwatring : when did you downloaded it if you started using v0.33 then its in the rootfolder/minequest
    there will be several config files relating to several thing of the plugin
    IT ISN'T in the plugins folder

    Jmonk big problem, just had a player get to level 30 War Mage by swinging a bone with fireball cast over and over :/ (and not actually casting fireball) he just hits the ground with the bone and it levels him up

    That sucks, can you try this to see if it fixes it?

    Yes I am very happy with them so far. They are also very configurable.

    sonyusa: what were the conditions of him being able to do this? I tried it on mine and all I could do was catch myself on fire. Was he in the water, did he have enough coal etc....

    No, don't use any components, basically cast it without any spell components I think

    Ya, was just able to duplicate it on jmonk's server. Hold stick, /bind fireball, left click like mad on some dirt (with no components), level up!

    Odd. What other plugins are you running? Do you know if they are running a modded minecraft by chance? The reason I ask is I tried this on my server and cannot replicate it. I want to know what to look for in order to keep my players form having a quick trip :)

    yeah, now that we cleared it up that I am running MineQuest 0.32 and this appears in MineQuest 0.33 :p

    Ok so apparently you need at least 1 coal or it doesn't work, but then if you spam it on dirt or something and get "must be cast on living unit" or something and it works

    Jmonk, when do you release new update? with new features :p like you plugin very much!

    I found actually some bugs with my friends wich you should know:
    • The Powerstrike: when i bind it to my wooden sword and when i hit a cow my sword disapeers(didn't test it on others like pleyers)
    • When a player isn't allowed yet to wear an armor and he opens a chest his armor will also disapeer
    • For a reason my shops doesn't work
    • When I made a town olny i can build in it, don't know how to allow people to or its just a bug.
    Well i guess that was it.

    Ow BTW, do you have a list where stands at wich level you can use tools and weapons etc....

    radarwolf, everything you just posted about is a feature, also the levels are listed on the website... I suggest you look around and read all the documentation! Powerstrike has a component of 1 wooden sword, that means every time you use it, it takes a wooden sword away. Only the mayor can build inside towns, too.

    i have a bug that does that evrytime i take damage i keep taking damage while im walking is that a bug or have a done a mistake installing?

    Do you have some sort of regenerating plugin turned on? This can cause problems with MineQuest.

    I don't really know for sure. There are no features which make them cooperate if thats what you are asking. I do know that someone was running both and having problems, but I believe that was a regenerating health issue. I don't know much about mcMMO so I really can't comment properly on the matter.

    Yes there is, but you need to turn off the auto regen. Give me a PM and I can paste specific instructions for Permissions that will get you running with it.

    When will next patch come out i can't wait ^^ oh ye are u gonne make the new version supportive to iConomy? my server's user will be pissed if there lose all ther money+then i won't be anebled to use my dungeon plugin like PhatLoots. 1 last thing can u create a full command list? mutch easyer to know command i don't even know how to give people building premission in towns :p

    wigumen: there is a wiki over at that lists all of the commands to date.

    You are looking for properties in your town. These are created the same way that the town was created, except they are only for areas inside of your town. You will stand in two corners like you did for town creation, then issue:

    \createproperty   <- this starts the property creation
    \finishproperty  [height]  <- this of course finishes the property creation
    The [height] field is optional and if left blank or set to 0 it will take the area above and below, to the vertical limits, as the area for the property.

    Then you will need to use:

    This will tell you the price and will buy the property respectively. You will probably want to adjust the cost of the properties through mySQL or SQL-lite since you are using iconomy and the properties are bought using cubonomy. The initial price for the properties is 1 million cubes I believe. Each player starts out with 500 cubes. You might have to restart the server for the new prices to appear though. I had to on my server.

    iConomy will be supported in MQ 0.40, and looking at the site , it looks like he released it a few days prior. I think this one might be a tad buggy though. --edit yes it is buggy... it is a DEV release. DO NOT USE IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP DEBUG!

    I think that covers just about what you are looking for as far as giving your players their places in your world. I think the only other item to add is after creating the properties and then resetting the prices you might need to restart the server to have the new prices updated properly.
