    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills

      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks
      • KILLING - exp for slaying mobs

    I'm having problems with tools. My players can use WOOD_PICKAXE, but not STONE_PICKAXE or IRON_PICKAXE.

    Found out the problem.

    People are keeping their old classes, instead of changing to their new one.

    But how do I fix this?

    Could you give me an idea how that would work.
    Lets say I have two classes, Angel and Demon. I want Angel to heal in light, but take damage in darkness. I want Demon to heal in darkness but take damage in light. I assume I would add LightEffects and DarkEffects to both classes, but since they are using the same skill.yml, how do it turn off the damage portion for 1 class but keep the healing for the other class?

    This has been plaguing my server, can I have some help please. It keeps restarting my server incessantly.
    This error restarts my server and occasionally herobrine kills player on log.

    Great job on the new release guys. Keep it up.

    One thing I noticed on my test server is when I assign the new Sneak skill as a proper permitted-skill (instead of using HeroSneak in permission-skills) it works fine if I leave in the HeroSneak.jar but if I take it out then it doesn't seem to want to work at all. (Which I assume defeats the purpose)

    Tested working on my end. Not sure what you're doing wrong. I'd double check to make sure the skill is in there and that you have added it to the class as a permitted-skill and removed the old skill from the permission-skills block.

    We've just been testing to implement this plugin.
    So far almost all the commands are working, I just have a few questions regarding a couple of skills.

    Both fireball and icebolt, even though they are set to do 4 damage, don't do any damage. The throw the snowball at the target, but no damage is done.

    SuperHeat is set to 20k duration, but it flashes on and then off right away.

    Summon, how do you control what creature can be summoned? It shows the syntax of /skill summon <creature> but doens't seem to work no matter what mob type I put in as creature.

    In the same regard, the spell port. How do you control the 'set location'?

    To get the Version of bukkit you need to type /version in-game or version in-console.
    If you're getting that error you're very obviously not on 1060.

    EDIT: Nevermind, I found out that my player yml got deleted so I just used the back-up.


    Ok, I just upgraded my server to the latest heroes and whenever I login I get a message saying "Heroes: # items have been removed from your inventory due to class restrictions." and then "Heroes: Please make space in your inventory then type '/heroes recoveritems'". When I make room and type the command I don't get anything back. I also can't figure out how to fix the "class restrictions" - I haven't changed the classes.yml and it worked before I updated...

    Small bug report:

    I use heroic death to report when someone dies, and ever since the newest revision, it is reporting that people are dying for unknown reasons, even though i know it's pvp and skill usage. not a priority obviously, but I figured i would mention it.

    Sneak and backstab are also not doing anything. Trying to use the command line and binding it results in no errors, but no message either. nor any effect. Running all up to date with permissions, spout, and version 170 of your dev build, i believe. (latest download)

    also the main post mentioned a way to give a class "all" armor and weapons. This isnt in the defualt classes.yml so how do i do it?

    We updated to your newest update, Awesome! :)

    The only command I can't get to work is /skill summon
    what do you put in the <creature> part of the syntax?
    I've tried zombie, etc and nothing spawns.

    Shield isn't a spell - it requires you to be holding a door, and reduces damage based on what door you're holding when you get hit

    @dyrnwyn - Sneak and Backstab definetely do work. if you have similar plugins being used as permission skills make sure you remove all of them

    I started revamping the Summon skill in my developer builds - it'll be working in the next patch

    Poison is broken - the Duration & Period settings are being flip-flopped. It will be fixed in the next patch.
    If you want to use Poison, substitute the duration for the period and vice versa. (so that the larger number is the period)

    Is there a way to create the ports, that the skill port can port to, or are they created by the player themselves? Also, superheat is set to the default in skills, but it turns on and off right away when a player uses it.

    players can use /skill port list - to list available ports.
    The ports are defined by the admin in the skill settings
    portName: 'x:y:z:level'

    where level is the Heroes level requirement for that port.

    I'll re-write it when I get the chance.
    Currently it teleports the player to the coords on their current world.
