It's well known that the new 1.8 mob SilverFish can chew through other block types. This can cause them to lead to some serious griefing, especially in numbers. Requesting a plugin to keep silverfish, but prevent them from (eating?) other blocks.
From what I know, there is no API for it. Your best bet until they do (if they do) is to just have them disabled.
