   So i know you can enchant spawn eggs in 1.5 now to give mobs certain names. At some point in my server's life, a name was given to certain mobs that just stuck, and from then on we called them that.
   
   Is there anyways to effect the global spawning of mobs to give them the names by default?

   I would expect plugins to provide this sort of thing soon if there aren't some already. You could try posting a plugin request in that forum too.
