Hi everyone, I have a big problem with lag on my server. Any ideas on how to improve the performance of my server? EDIT: ** I forgot to mention that I can only support 10 players with the following specs and they got lag -.- Server Specs Intel Core i7 2700k 16GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Ram OCZ Vertex 3 SSD Connection Speed 100Mbit/100Mbit FTTH - If I calculated correctly that's 12,5 MegaBytes Down/Up stream My Router I do not have a router I'm connected directly to my ISP box... my server acts as a router. Operating System Windows 7 Reason: Powering a few virtual machines which take up 2% of my CPU on all cores and take 4GB of my ram. I'm left with 12GB of RAM. BukkitVersion Latest Recommended Build: 1.3.1-R1.0 Server Plugins AntiCheat BKCommondLib - only a library not really a plugin Catacombs - inactive ChestShop Essentials EssentialsSpawn Factions FrontEndProxy HideStream mcMMO MoneyDrop NoLagg Orebfuscator - i know this takes some CPU power, but since they are caching data its not that stressful anymore Ptweaks ShowCaseStandalone SpamGuard Vault WorldBorder WorldEdit I know its not probably the best thing to have NoLagg and Ptweaks at the same time. But every time I deleted one of these and just kept the other one there was just more lag. So I kept both of them. Any ideas? ** Only experienced server owners admins answer this thread please, I'm not in the mood answering noob questions/posts
it's a bug at 1.3.1 i have the same prob with my server, i only got chat lag tho. everything else works fine. except for chat
Have you actually measured your connection up and down speed? Is it persistent, really 100 up and down? In other words, is your connectivity as good as in a real datacenter or merely numbers the marketing of your ISP advertises. Also, running a server on a Desktop OS is not the smartest move, obviously. You also run some of the most lag-prone plugins, but you already know that yourself. How bad is the lag without plugins?
Yes connection IS 100/100. For instance "http://www.speedtest.net/" gives out a very accurate speed, mine never dropped bellow 12,5 Megabytes it merely spiked higher, so the speed isn't the issue here (I did a lot of tested at different times and different days). You are correct, its probably not the smartest move to use Desktop OS ... how ever I tried on Linux where the results were the same. Lag without the plugins is a bit better (not much). Also I'm using Java 6 not 7, if that matters a lot?
lol why is your server set up with standard consumer desktop specs? Anyways use Java 7. I made a post about this, gotta dig up the link, it fixes all lag.
