Plugins to help with a SG1 type idea.

    I'm here to actually see if anyone is ALREADY working on plugins that would help with the idea of an SG1 type exploration survival system. I happen to have a bit of a heart condition which keeps me up a LOT, so I guess my hallucinations are starting to sound like a good gametype. All I know is that unless I write this down, my headaches will get worse :)

    Some explanations:
    * UNRESOLVED (X) : Means that I might have found a plugin to cover it, but it's not optimal and I'm looking for ideas.
    * When I mention a plugin by name it means that it's the best one of it's type as far as I can tell for what I am trying to make happen. If you're working on something or know something better, I'd love the input.

    General thoughts that fly by my head:
    * Would be cute to have a custom Texturepack to go along with this.
    * Since custom mobs are outside bukkit scope, was wondering if fancier skins to "wrap" monsters to look totally different was possible, ie Crepper with transparent legs made to look like a floating hunter-seeker mine. A plugin called EpicBoss might help with that.

    What I am trying to do:

    * Encourage a play-style reminiscent of the old SG1 TV Series, where you go explore alien locations all the time, rather then just sit in your own world and build there. Offworld exploration become missions, although off world bases are possible (even encouraged depending on objectives), but will usually have to exist in far more hostile environments then the Starter world.
    * Starter world will (usually) be a basic MC world, with WorldBorder set to limit players wondering too far. Could also be an airless moon or an orbital space station, thats the beauty of it.
    * WorldEdit to add a starter base, then to remove certain resources, say Diamonds, maybe remove dungeons etc, basically make it a low resource world.
    * Use MultiVerse Core and MultiVerse Portals to kick off offworld exploration, probably hide the starting gate underground or in a handcrafted Dungeon or a cave system. Might finally have players create a rail system for a decent reason ...
    - UNRESOLVED (A): Single gate with multiple destinations. Still looking for best DHD idea.
    * Each new world is created via MultiVerse and World Generators, hand cleaned, WorldBorder'ed then use WorldEdit to add flavor via block area MCEdit Schematics. Use of Parallel Worlds to reset any changes made the custom worlds after server resets.

    Some plugin mechanics to keep players active (from Extra Hard Mode plugin)
    * Torches burn out. Possibly just become RedStone torches, but as we know, light 7 can still cause spawns.
    * Cave-in when digging, and harder type digging without TNT. Stops "tunnel mania"
    * NoFarm to stop players just making mobs farms. Drops only happen from hand to hand kills.

    That sets the scene. The general play mechanics are as follows:

    * Players have an end objective for each "server reset". This could be to find enough resources to construct a particular resource hungry device, say for example a comms beacon to send a message into hyperspace and call for help, or create a power energy device to power up a gate DHD for an extremely long stargate jump, or build/repair a number of shield generators to stop acid rain/micrometeors, or reclaim a flooded underwater city. Once objectives are complete, I can "restart" the whole gametype on a new world, with new objectives.
    - UNRESOLVED (B): For objectives that need to be built, I'd need a concept like BuildingPlanner or Construction Sites (both are experimental atm). Ie the players might obtain the resources, but how would they know how to build something with no schematics and then where to build? I'm not sure how to check if a structure has been built in a certain spot and with the right bits. I know I can use something like VariableTriggers to check for specific blocks at specific locations in a pinch (I think)
    * The Starter world, in order to push players along could have plugins like Solar Apocalypse, SunBurn Reborne, Frostbite, etc. Basically plugins that make the Starter world more hostile as time goes by. We don't want pesky players getting complacent.
    * Players are "encouraged" to jump worlds, explore, pillage, and bring back resources to complete objective(s). All gameplay style to be encouraged. Low risk would be keeping base organized, clean, well lit, stocked with food etc, with high risk/high reward gamestyple might involving Parkour jumping puzzles on a airless hellish moon watching your air supply running down while your attempting to get to that last block of Diamond you need to keep the base generator running for another few days. Pretty sure that underwater action and low gravity/space action is possible (ideas from Space Walk and Dive Helmet)
    * UNRESOLVED (C): A system to make events happen the more the server runs. Solar Apocalypse has a "calander timer", which would be a start. Another option is just randomized events with increasing frequency.

    This is all I can think of so far. All the above can more or less be done with already available plugins, what I am hoping for is some constructive advice on what might be done in a better way, and information on whether anyone had any interesting plugins that I missed that would work well with this idea.

    I would just like to know, what is SG1? At fIrst, I thought you meant the Survival Games 1 map, but it's obviously not that :p
