So, I'm wanting to create a plugin based on the gamemode from garrys mod ("The Ship") however, I have noticed that someone has already attempted this. I have contacted the owner of the plugin asking if it would be ok if I took over the project (as they haven't updated it in years). I believe he has seen my messages (He was online yesterday so, I asked if it would be possible for a yes/no answer). What should I do? Am I allowed to create a project similar to it since is hasn't been updated in so long (I would personally consider it to be inactive)?
