Please help with Issues with Essentials Signs

I have all permissions setup according to the tutorials. I am using game version 1.4.7 and having issues creating signs for shops. I use [Buy] on the first line, 64 on the second, dirt or 3 for the third line, and $1 for the last line. I have also tried using just 1 for the last line and I get errors. When im done creating the sign, instead of getting a blue sign ike it says I should, I get a !? Anyone familiar with this problem? Is there a fix?
