Problem/Bug People can op themselves?

    Ok I'm an owner with another person on a server, and he gave us a book and I'll post a screenshot below, and once we clicked on a link it opped him, we did deop him etc and he just left, his ign was Johnnoneill. So I was wonder, how does he do this, is this a bug glitch hacked client, extra code i'm not sure.

    @jebusfathead Also you might have powertool enabled try and remove it.

    This is a bug in vanilla Minecraft. It's not present in recent versions of CraftBukkit/Spigot 1.8.3, 1.8.4, or 1.8.5. What version are you running? Post the output of your /version command.

    And how would someone do this. cause I want to know so that I can make sure people don't do it in the future

    EDIT: I suggest you update to at least 1.8.3. This and other exploits are fixed in the latest 1.8.3.
