Read this a long time ago,

    http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/public-announcement-for-permissions.33651/

But, ever since my re-infastructing, I've switched to Bukkit Permissions.

Before I start doing permissions for individual groups, I want to know,

Which one will be most popular? Or recommended, rather, and Why?

I assume BukkitPermissions for obvious reasons, however I would like the communities feedback, and such.

    Thank you.

    ..what.

PermissionsEx is a manager for Bukkit Permissions (SuperPerms). SuperPerms in only an API for developers, and without the PermissionsBukkit plugin, is useless for server admins.

PermissionsEx is by far, better than PermissionsBukkit.

    permissions bukkit ftw :p

    why
because it does everything i need it to do. it's simple and to the point and always works great.
I tried pex before. Set everything up and took the plugin off quickly after because i didnt like it. It's got too much junk you dont need (unless you have a reason to use the extra stuff like mysql)

Running PEX here. Using it because it is the most feature-rich and flexible out of all of them, and certainly by far the most similar in structure to the original Permissions, which is nice.

PermissionsBukkit is the most bare-bones possible solution, and many things don't work properly with it. (Try using prefixes with HeroChat using PermissionsBukkit and get back to me).

Also, don't forget about codename_b's bPermissions. Not quite as feature-rich as PEX, but it does have Permissions and GroupManager autoconverters. If you don't like PEX, try bPermissions, not PermissionsBukkit.

God damn, I can't stop saying "Permissions". Permissions. Permissions. Permissions. :p

bPerms is sweet, although I'm not a fan of how the in-game commands work (my own fault prolly, since they're configurable)

It looks as though I'm going to have to go with PEX, since a certain class system *cough* is taking a while to switch to SuperPerms. (not that I blame 'em.)

I died a little inside when Perms 3.16 went inactive.

How does MySQL work? Is it really easy to use?

I like to hand configure a lot of stuff. Can I do this?

You are a plugin developer that has never used mysql? My word!

It is only the most wonderful way to store tabular data. The real user power of mysql is through phpmyadmin though which allows you to delete cells, move them around, edit them directly without using the command line.

Here Daniel take a look at this

    http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/try.php

As a plugin developer you could use mysql to store data that you wish to query and retrieve later very quickly and efficiently.

I'm considering MySQL as an option for bPermissions certainly.

It shouldn't be hard to add once I figure out MySQL XD

I've used MySql. I just haven't used it for permissions.

MySql is overrated anyway, although thats a completely different thread.
