Noob Question: How do i change the properties of my bukkit server?

I just got my bukkit server up and running, but I'm having issues changing the properties. How do I, for example, set spawn-monsters or pvp to false?

 

#Minecraft server properties

level-name=world
hellworld=false
spawn-monsters=true
online-mode=true
spawn-animals=true
max-players=20
server-ip=
pvp=false
server-port=25565

 

open the server.properties and edit "spawn-monsters=false" to disable monsters spawning

I'd like to be able to turn off spiders and creepers in my server, they're a little too powerful for me. The natural-monsters=Zombie,Skeleton doesn't seem to be working for me and I can't find a plugin to turn on/off different monsters. Did something change between hMod and Bukkit as far as the server.properties file is concerned?
