Nameplates on zombies?

Is it possible?

I would like to put a nameplate on a zombie, is that even possible? Maybe on another monster? like a skeleton, or a spider, something?

No, not possible. But from 13w04a, it is possible to rename mob eggs and spawn them with a name. Their name will be displayed above them within a 6 block circular radius (if you look at them). So you just have to wait for the version to be released and the API to be updated

 

Maybe you can spawn a human NPC inside it? xD will look odd, but
