Monster Repellent (for safe AND ambient caves)

    I love discovering a huge cave with waterfalls and lava at the bottom, but I find caves lose all their charm when they're sufficiently lit to avoid monster spawning. I'd love my (and my players') caves to stay good-looking, and sometimes doing homes with a different lighting than "brightly lit" would be interesting too.

    What I'd like is a mod that makes some configurable object or block (I'd use redstone torches to be able to estimate at a distance the "anti-monster coverage") prevent monster spawning in a certain radius.

    Ideally it wouldn't work through walls, but I realize that might be computationally intensive.
