While it does write the maps on every load - don't worry - once the images have been converted to .mbit files the speed of loading will be instant! It just takes some processing to convert images to notchcode y'know? Anyway - this will enable you to have any set map as any set image. Enjoy!

Is this different then the map api Sk89q is making then?

 

It's easier to use - SpaceManiac is working on integrating the best of this with the best of sk89q's and working it into Bukkit, so the eventual thing will be a combination of the two.
In the meantime this is different because A: it's my code B: I'm giving it to people freely to use as they like unlike sk89q and C: I'm releasing plugins for use with it too!

My MapAPI has been out since the 13th - this is just another plugin using it with lots of flexibility (as well as a fun new file format)

 

Ah, cool. I'm definitly going to go give this a whirl. I guess i missed your MapApi. I've been eagarly awaiting something like this. Are you guys having any progress on integrating video?

 

That's more difficult than it sounds :S

How does one use this? I saw left-clicking with the map changes the shown image, anything else I should know about?

All this plugin does it write images onto maps at server load to provide them at any time during the servers running. It allows you to add (for example map 355) without having to have map 355 in your hand etc etc etc

 

Stupid me, thanks for clarifying though. Is it possible to get an image-map by crafting a map? Or do crafted maps skip the image-maps?

 

One question. What type of file does this load, and what si the size.

Well, smart one, I tried a .jpeg and it was a 124 by 124 resolution and all it does is just be brown. I was asking maybe it is a wrong file type or it needs to be smaller. There is no need to be rude.

 

Which jpeg? If the jpeg is brown, the image will be brown. Also if you get the link wrong (which would be confirmed by a stacktrace in your server.log which you probably never checked or even knew existed or know what a stacktrace is, you'll get an http:// url cannot be reached error - so rather than this plugin not working - you aren't working.) Also you obviously didn't read about the minecraft map because it VERY specifically states the resolution of the map.

The .jpeg file is a picture which in fact has no brown in it and is 124 pix. x 124 pix. I am getting my server history together now.

You have setup your config.yml incorrectly - and yet you blame me? I even gave a VERY obvious example format.
Paste your config.yml - and we will see exactly what you've done wrong.

So to call this an error on my plugins part is simply... idiotic of you. Perhaps it would be better to investigate your own shortcomings in setting this up before coming onto my plugin post and claiming it doesn't work - or if you are going to claim that it doesn't work it would be forthcoming for you to post the information that I finally eked out of you - I still don't have a link to the image you were wanting to display on the map - so I can't test that it can support the encoding used in that particular .jpeg - I still don't have the config.yml of this plugin so I can't tell if you've set it up incorrectly - I don't know what operating system you are on - I don't know if your server is running online mode or offline mode.

TL;DR post your config.yml - you're also running a hamachi server - have you even bought minecraft?

Still don't know what your config.yml looks like or what image you were trying to load onto a map. How can you even remotely expect answers to your question when your question is as vague as "MY IMAGE WONT GO ONTO THE MAP!?!!!!!"

Here's what I know: it doesn't work for you because something
Here's what I don't know: your config.yml, what image you are trying to load, what operating system you are on, if you setup the config.yml correctly, if you removed the files in plugins/maps/ before trying again, if the link you were using to the image was correct.

I really can't help other than to tell you what I know based on the information you've given which is this:
You run a hamachi server, you haven't bought minecraft - making you a criminal, and you can't setup a simple yml file config.

 

In the config file, under the URL, the "short:7" thing. is that the map number?

i am trying to get this to work. it seems as though everything is loaded properly. i just need to find the map.

One of my pictures turned out as all brown, despite obvious changes in color. I was using the princess celestia obey image found here. using the following configuration
