    Hello, also Happy New Year!:)

So i want to ask about how to setup a minecraft server.

I've been browsing and watched alot of videos
on how to start a minecraft server. I want to start a private server with my friends, and a Factions server in the near future.

So my question is how do i start?
Do i rent a dedicated server with CentOS? Or use my computer with VPS with CentOS?

@jsjjs 1. CentOS is not needed, windows or any other operating system works as well.
    2. VPS, also not needed, normal pc works fine.
    3. Where do you want it? Do you want a pc running at home all the time or not?

@timtower I want my server to be on 24/7.
That's why i want to rent a dedicated server with CentOS or VPS.

What would i pick then? Dedicated or VPS?

I have seen someone use VPS with CentOS but from their computer.
And install screen to make the server 24/7, but am i going to get a custom IP with the VPS or is it going to be my IP adress? I don't want to use my IP.

Depends on what else you want to do with it.
And if it is at home then they will use your IP.
    If hosted then not.

@timtower I think i understand what you mean.
    "Hosted from home my IP"
"Hosted with VPS not my IP"

    I'm stupid, apologise for that.:p
