Mojang have just released an update to Minecraft, bringing us to 1.2.4.

This update is primarily a bug fix release but does include some nice improvements as well:
    • Made placing half blocks on existing half blocks (to make a full block) easier
    • Limit framerate on menu screens, no longer uses 100% cpu and make my computer melt
    • Fixed fatal crash for converted worlds to anvil, when there’s blocks at max height
    • Fixed an old bug with signs clearing text while you’re editing them in SMP
    • Fixed crash when logging in while there are blocks at maxheight at spawn
    • Fixed TNT ghosts in multiplayer
    • Fixed storage minecarts dropping enchanted items
    • Fixed crashes on invalid server addresses when joining a server
    • Fixed entities being uninteractable if they existed at login (Multiplayer)
    • Fixed dupe exploit with paintings
    • Fixed furnaces and dispensers dropping enchanted items
    • Fixed the “flickering” of chat as it vanishes off the screen
    • Fixed text rendering over items in the container screens
    • Fixed exploit with jungle saplings (turns other saplings into jungle ones)
    • Fixed launcher opening minecraft dir if the path contains a space
    • Fixed an off-by-one lighting bug
    • Fixed block transmuting (turning one block into another via pistons)
    • Fixed placing mushrooms in daylight, where they can’t survive
    • Fixed redstone lamps dropping powered block items when destroyed while on
    • “save-all” (server) now works even when you have toggled “save-off”
    • Fixed turning half-blocks into full-blocks while you’re standing on them
    • Fixed seed displaying in F3 debug when the seed is unknown (multiplayer)
    • Fixed villager texture changing clientside per profession
    • Fixed falling off ledge corners while holding shift
    • Fixed players falling when reconnecting to servers where they were previously flying
    • Chat history and much better chat editing
    • A few new decoration blocks
    • “Back” and “Quit” buttons to OutOfMemoryScreen
    • Made cats more realistic (read: probably annoying). I hope it’s enough to cancel out any joy you may receive from the previous feature!
    • Added a “minimal” debug menu for testing with. Shift+F3 to hide the graphs.
This is just a short announcement to let you know that we are aware of this and are working on it as I type this. Please note: Minecraft 1.2.4 has bumped the protocol version, so it is incompatible with 1.2.3.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

did you rename your .jar to just "craftbukkit.jar" ? Dev works for me, but i typically rely on beta builds.

    No worries!
One thing: if you use mysql, you'll need to edit your config after you run it the first time as they've changed the mysql username/password fields in the config, so you'll get mysql errors the first time you run the dev build.

Naa that shouldn't matter. I updated to a more recent dev build (Since there is like 10 of them lol) and the newest one as of a few minutes ago, works like a charm ;).....Not sure what everyone is so upset about. I don't have one non-working plugin out of my 45 plugins enabled. Thanks for the reply btw

ya... i am a total noob, not using mysql... it think... even if i was, wouldn't know what to do with it. I am assuming that i save the exe jar file and replace it with this craftbukkit one in the directory under my documents?

    Meh, read maybe two sentences.

Hey TheNoobWar thanks for responding, i dig the community that helps. What i did was download the file into the my document directory and renamed it craftbukkit.jar to replace the old one. Then worked like a charm. I assume i am going to need to keep updating it until it is out of beta?

Err you don't need to constantly update, but I recommend a few hours maybe each 7 hours go to the newest dev build UNLESS theres a beta build or a recommended build out.

    Show Spoiler

1.2.4 dev build is working great. Now, just waiting for client mods like optifine, sonic's shader or rei's minimap...

You both are complaining alot for something thats absolutly free.. if your loosing money then make it yourself or hire some one to make it for you.. this is free software they dont owe you anything at all.. they dont have to make updates nor do they have to reply to any one if they dont want to.
It is your option to use bukkit or not, no one is forcing you to use it.

all plugins work, none of my plugins broke. So I think you can skip the vanilla server ;)

Already been a update for bukkit, it was Beta Build, so it was glitchy

just a message to everyone how is going to use the developers build all the plugins from the 1.2.3 R.02 work on it because the coding is nearly the same

oh and another thing why not just use a developer/unstable version of bukkit they are normally stable and the only reason the say there not stable is because they havnt been fully tested

Do you have spout installed because that happened to me i had spout now i dont

Are people going with the Dev Build #2110 because its working or are people upgrading/using the latest Dev Build #2113?
  24. Offline

Nope, almost nothing changes in the way of the API, I tried all my plugins out and they all work without a hitch.

it already is, however im finding that the latest one gives the error that the server is outdated, but the first dev release for 1.2.4 works a treat, i didnt test any of the others, i tried the absolute latest and it seemed to be a rolled back version but this one seems to work lovely.

If anyone else knows which of the devtests is the latest -working- one for 1.2.4 please quote me, the latest snapshot has the older protocol version perhaps?
