Tables - Build prettier tables easy.
    Version: v0.6

For some odd reason, you can't place pressure plates wherever you want.
That means you have to use halfblocks/steps to create tables, and they're simply too thick to look very good.
In Beta 1.8 this plugin became irrelevant because jeb_ let us place pressure plates on fence posts without it, but there are still plenty of things you still can't place them on.

Here's my solution to that problem.

Nice Cafè-like setting. Note the wall-grabbing tables with plenty of leg room.

    • Allows placement of pressure plates on both types of glass and on iron bars.
    • Makes the pressure plates not plop out simply because there is a block update.
    • No configuration, no permissions, no commands, just simple usage.
    • Just add it to your plugins directory and reload, don't worry about it.
    Download Tables
    Source Code

Thanks to EvilSeph for some events assistance!
Thanks to @Sneaky420 for the post-1.8-usefulness idea (glass planes and iron bars)

    Version 0.6
    • Finally updated for the new event system and cleared 1.2.5-RB1 use.
    • Massive code cleanup making it ready for eventual configuration.
Next version will probably let you define "X on top of Y is OK" for yourself.
    Version 0.5
    • Support for putting pressure plates (and cake...) on Iron Bars and Glass Planes.
    Version 0.4.1
    • Cake on fence posts! This was talked about a while back, and forgotten, but today I was reminded!
    Version 0.4
    • Removed fence stacking support etc, as it's now supported by Minecraft itself.
    • Some internal cleanup, nothing major.
    Version 0.3
    • Partial (flaky) support for torches-on-fences
    • Removed pressure-pad-on-air support due to it's very strange nature.
    Version 0.2
    • Included functionality for stacking fences on fences for those Extra Fancy High Tables.
    • Pressure plates will now not plop out when the block below it disappears.
    Version 0.1
    • Initial release

ah, 1.7 can now place torches on top of fences ;) i hope this feature isn't already in tables?
  5. Offline

Nope, it was, but was removed both because it was unstable/unusable and because 1.7 implemented it.
Besides, if I had gotten it done, I'm always careful to implement stuff like this in a way that won't break if Minecraft duplicates the feature, like the fence-on-fence thing.

thx, i like your professional developping ;)

I like your liking my professional development!
I'm a software dev out there in Real Life as well, so of course that experience "bleeds" into my plugin development.
Note, however, that I'm not a professional Java developer, so that part of my knowledge is not fully up to scratch. I do my best, of course, but some of the more advanced Java stuff still eludes me.

Edit: Added strike-through to make the statement true...

The download link is broken :( it says:
    Internal Server Error

    And gives the same error

Yep, it's currently in flux, as I'm moving from one server to another.
Just hang tight, I'll have it resolved in a moment.

Should be all right now :)

Nice plugin, its cool :), a question, that the torch can do this on the table? --- The torch is over the fence, and the preasure plate ¿ ---

(sorry my english ^^, im only speak in spanish and I use a translater)

    Sorry, that won't work.
The pressure plate takes up a whole block, so it the torch would float in the air almost a whole block above the table.

ah right, haha Anyway, its a cool plugin ^^

Thank you for leaving a note!

Three pages of comments, but thousands of downloads... In fact, since I moved to a new server this morning, there has been 160 downloads! Hooray!

Great plugin. I logged into bukkit to give you a much deserved reply. I hope your plugin gets vastly noticed and that you keep it updated. ^_^

Once I started tracking just how many downloads it gets, I was very surprised!
    It's been downloaded over 2000 times! :-O

So yeah, it got noticed, and yeah, I'll keep it alive for as long as I can.

I wouldn't be too surprised. Convince plugins like this that make things more fun and give your more access are often some of the best but most unnoticed.

What happens if a pressure plate is on top of say - a fence and then this plugin is removed?
  22. Offline

all the plates would pop off.

@DemmyDemon - is it possible, i know this is lightly abstract or off-top, but to include placement of torches on blocks of ice? World guard and other plugins prevent ice from melting now, so it'd be fantastic to have this - and I cannot find it anywhere else

    Okay, thanks.

No, they would not. A physics event would have to come along and force an update of the block, and then they would pop off.

No, there's something odd going on with torches and their placement. I think it might be related to the light calculation code. No matter what it is, it makes torches a "special case", and thus best left for it's own plugin.
Tables has exactly zero lines of torch-related code now that vanilla Minecraft allows torches on fences.

Thanks for this awesome plugin. I added it to my server today and it's already becoming very popular amongst my players :D

    Glad to hear it!

Now, if someone would please explain why this is not possible in vanilla Minecraft...

Just a quick post to let everyone know I've tested the current version and found it working fine in build 1000

I have a suggestion. Please make it so we can set things on tables. By "things" I don't mean like cake but items (diamonds, mushrooms, entities representing broken blocks)... please make it so I can set these on tables and show them off.
There is a mod called ShowCases that does something very similar but it is more economy-based and I was looking for something more display-based. Also, I want things on tables, not slabs.
Basically, you would crouch and then right click a table. The item in your hand would be removed from your inventory and placed on the table. It wouldn't degen, it wouldn't be able to be picked up, and the table would become invincible to anyone spare it's owner. To remove your item from a table, crouch and right click again.

Can you make something like this? If you could, I would really appreciate it.

I actually have a plugin like this that is unreleased.
It's unreleased because it looks really bad with the item hovering in the air and spinning, and I haven't been able to adjust it to not spin and hover slightly lower.
If I figure that part out so it doesn't look silly I'll release it as a separate plugin, but make it clear both in this thread and that other thread that these are intended to work together.

I want that other one separate as it is a whole lot more complex with permissions and stuff.

i think it would be pretty cool to be able to put down bowls or flower's on the tables.

Not if they bob up and down above the table, and spin around. Trust me, it looks horrible.
I'll work on it, and see what I can come up with!
