mcserver/bukkit message: "[INFO] added a chest!!"

Anyone know what that message is about?

I'm pretty sure it's not any of my plugins

Seems to be new, as of 1.4- kind of curious. Is it creating dungeons or something?

I searched, noticed that others were getting it (WG thread), so I figured it definitely wasn't me.

I haven't found any causality yet... maybe chunk load, or even chunk gen?

I imagine looking in the code for that message would be the best way to track it down

I'm more curious about wolves, atm, though- so I think I'm going to keep code-diving in there instead!

A simple plugin that stops them despawning would be nice,
if you had some spare times

I believe it is related to Notch's April Fools prank, although I am not certain/have not actually confirmed this.

Yes. That page is/was linked from in-game chests that require that you purchase the keys to open them. TF2 parody.

Upon reading a later post - I discovered I was mistaken. It actually seems to be a log statement left in Notch's code.

 

It sounds to me, like notch gets bored easily.

Funny stuff- I thought that joke was just a web page, no idea it actually tied back into the game somehow

Maybe just a log print to make us think that's happening? I want to find it in the code...

 

You can find the line in the ChunkProviderGenerate class of MC 1.4.
It gets called every time the game generated a locked chest which only happened for chunks generated on April 1st.
It seems like notch missed this debug line on release...
