I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

Another problem i have discovered when using logblock.

When griefers are destroying blocks, it's saved as "<name> did a unspecified action" so i can't rollback it. Any ideas of what's causing it?

  9. Offline

    Flatliner

I'm gonna be a pain (sorry!) and say I think I would lean a little more toward option 1. The limits for area, time etc rather than just block changes, just because it's easy for me to think about in my head. Block changes can vary a lot (depending on the size of the area, how much work has been done etc). Whereas a hard limit for area and particularly for time, is easier to choose a sensible number for.

What is the best way to keep the LogBlock Queue from becoming overloaded?

also just to clear up and commands and params that are kind of hard to get used to with your documentation I made some easy example commands to shows your plugin's usage, feel free to post them here they helped my mods greatly!:

I'm alro interested in knowing that. Afaik bukkit sometimes provides no item type in break events, but I don't know under what circumstances, and how some griefers can exploit that ...
But at least you should be able to rollback blocks placed that way.
    Good point :D
    Adjusting the consumer -> https://github.com/DiddiZ/LogBlock/wiki/FAQ
But as I see that the consumer got slower (maybe due to chestlogging) I'll work on some performace improvements for next update :D
    Thanks :)

  13. Offline

    tha d0ctor

sweet deal, my consumer is set to false so I'll look into lowering the delay between runs and increase the time per run

is there any risk to modifying these features other than higher CPU usage?

  14. Offline

    DiddiZ

I thought that would be obvious:
    /lb tool mode lookup
Afaik no, even when two runs would overlap each other, only one will run at a time.

Essentially it means, LB can't get a connection to the MySQL server. If you are sure that it worked before the reload, then use your ip instaed of localhost. Heard it could help sometimes.

Whenever I try to use /lb rollback player einschtein time 5 minutes, it doesn't see all the blocks that I changed. I tried it a minute ago, I deted 5 blocks and only gave me 1. And when I rollback, it doesn't even put it back.

Doesn't it save everything in the database, maybe? I got the following under consumer in the config-file:
    consumer:
    delayBetweenRuns: 4
    forceToProcessAtLeast: 0
    timePerRun: 200
    useBukkitScheduler: false

Nope, it just takes a while. There only gets data lost when the mysql server shuts down and you reload/restart then.
So you say LB works when you start the server, but can't connect to the MySQL server when you reload?
    EDIT: Try /lb savequeue before

Ive been meaning to ask this for ages.

We have loblock from heyo days would like to convert the database over to bukkit as we know the formatting from then has changed.

Thing is the guy who set logblock up used the same database so there both together in the same file :/

Back in logblock 0.15 and previous, chest logging would just show you the name of person who accessed a chest, and that was all, I'm wondering if it's possible to get that again, or is the only way to log chests to show everything they took and put in?

    Just recently I've been getting
MysqlDataTruncation: Data truncation: Out of range value for column x at row 1

errors. I took a look at your wiki and it said to change the columns to INT, can I get a guide on how to do that? :D
The map size is roughly 29,626,560,000 blocks. Give or take a few billion for air blocks. I haven't had this issue before but until now... :(

Uhuh, it works all the time. It can connect to the MySQL every single time I start my Minecraft Server, never gives me an error. The only thing is, that it doesn't see all the blocks I changed when I rollback 5 minutes or-so.

    DiddiZ

So under what circumstancec it runs and when not?
Can you copy the lb relevant console output at reload?
You can convert a hey0 LB db to a LB database using the 4 sql update files from LB v0.2, 0.4, 0.7 and 0.7b (find them in the version history).
I thought with full chest logging that would be obsolete. Or are there any purposes for that?

    Only the radius matters.
    ALTER TABLE `<table>` MODIFY x INT NOT NULL;
Sry, I mistook you for someone who asked that

Ehh.. I just like keeping things neat in my plugins folder, the less .jar's the merrier. And about just logging the name of who accessed, I figured that the less that was being logged, the less strain on the server, and not as huge of a MySQL Database.

Well, let me if you want to or not, I mean, it wouldn't be world ending if I HAD to log all chest activity, it would just be kind of nice to not have to.
