I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.




The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

Features:

• Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
• Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
• Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Besides that would be a rather risky process, phpMyAdmin (and MySQL Workbench also) provides very easy to use import/export functions.

 

LogBlock keeps a record of practically every action on a server. Even a VERY small server with only a couple players will generate thousands of records each day. This is the sort of thing that MySQL was designed to do. Quickly.

Not counting the time to download the install file, it takes like 2 minutes to install MySQL and do a quick login test. They've made it very, very easy. But if you're not comfortable with the installation, then maybe you've got a friend who can help with server admin stuff?

/lb queuesize works, but savequeue doesn't. No output at all, so no idea why it isn't responding.
(currently the queue is fine, around 5 or so, but when we run tnt events or worldedit /fix water 50, it would put up queues of up to 100k. Or at least it used to.)

It's up to date, MySQL and Apache are running on MAMP (I use a Mac).
Weirdest part is that the plugin doesn't show up as red when I type /plugins, but none of the commands can be issued either; I get the error 'No database connected. Check your MySQL user/pw and database for typos. Start/restart your MySQL server.'

So yeah, hope somebody can provide me the information I need to get LogBlock up and running, thanks!

 

Can't speak for the author, but I had a similar problem.. try putting the password in quotes in the config.yml... can't remember if it's ' or " (single or double quotes)

 

You can't ban them, they are both environment

No output usually means queue is empty.

Are you sure about the port, and is the server running?

Nah, it's right as it's there. Players with spawnTools were able to spawn all tools, no matter whether they've got the tool permission.

These are the default bukkit permissions. Seems like you arent't using the permissions bridge (Permissions.jar in PEX package).

 

@DiddiZ There is currently a bug that exists between MCBans 3.3 and LogBlock 1.41 running on RB #1337. This bug can be easily replicated by simply installing LB 1.41 and MCBans 3.3 as the only plugins on RB #1337 (or higher, I've tested up to latest #1459). The error can be seen in this pastebin: http://pastebin.com/bphpAPCn

As I've poked around in both sources a bit, as best I can tell this is caused by MCBans 3.3 including support for LogBlock using the official LogBlock API (as published here: https://github.com/DiddiZ/LogBlock/wiki/API). So as MCBans is starting up, it forces a LogBlock startup while it's loading in it's onEnable() method. This seems to trigger a Java IllegalAccessError when LogBlock onLoad() tries to instantiate Updater(). I don't know the exact reasons for this, but it's probably related to ClassLoader issues.

MCBans doesn't even declare a 'softdepend', and in my tests to add it, it didn't resolve the problem, sadly. Strangely, renaming LogBlock.jar to 'aLogBlock.jar' did fix the issue. Anyway I think it's an MCBans issue (since LogBlock works fine until you install MCBans 3.3, and MCBans 3.3 has the same poisonous effect on PEX 1.16 as well), however since MCBans 3.3 works fine under this scenario and only blows up LogBlock, they're claiming "not my issue" for now. Just want you to be aware in case you see people coming here with issues, you might ask if they're running MCBans 3.3 first.

@DiddiZ ... aaaand after spending hours looking into this last night and giving up on the solution so deciding to just post to make you aware, I finally found the issue this morning (fresh pair of eyes, I guess).

The reason adding 'softdepend' to MCBans' plugin.yml didn't fix the issue is because MCBans declares a 'Class-Path' attribute in their META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file which includes LogBlock (and PEX). This forces Java to load LogBlock as soon as it touches the JAR file (when Bukkit is looking for plugin.yml to sort out dependencies) and so it loads in the wrong ClassLoader context thus giving the IllegalAccess errors.

Adding both a 'softdepend' to plugin.yml for MCBans and deleting the erroneous MANIFEST.MF Class-Path entries fixes the issue. I've made MCBans aware so they can fix their plugin, but now you know in case people come here complaining about LogBreak breaking because of an MCBans 3.3 issue.

That usually means that the missing blocks were modified later by other players and so didn't need to be rolled back.

 

It also says "unspecified action" what would cause that? I'm thinking it would be a hacked client of some sort.

 

Ok, well I hope they can get it fixed soon!

 

There are some causes, mainly plugin and bukkit fails, hacked clients are rather unlikely.

Bukkit messed up getConfig() method in CB 1396, they are aware and we'll need to wait for a fix.

 

Yea LB works nice, been using it for months, but bukkit has to fix it for 1.0.0

Yeah, you're right, 1.30 should still work (it uses some now depriciated methods, but ...)

 

you are able to log when a creeper exploded and removed a block .....
you are able to edit the name to the player name ......
then it has to be possible to edit it to "a creeper exploded by "player" and destroyed "block" .....

You can log creeper explosions either as Creeper or as the player who triggered the creeper, but currently not both.

Piston logging is not implemented yet, due to difficulties on rollback.
