Increase Mob Damage

    The TLDR Version:

Very simply put: I want to increase the damage done by all Mobs that deal physical based attacks.

    The Problem:

Currently each armor point gives 8% damage reduction, with a maximum of 80% damage reduction with 10 armor points. From what I have read, this tweak/buff to armor was to make pvp more interesting. I can understand that it would help make pvp fights last longer, and also give more incentive towards using potions, lava buckets and flint/steel when battling another player.

While I like that aspect of it, I do not like that after you've obtained a full set of iron armor, most of the regular mobs deal very little damage to you. This makes walking around during the night way easier than I would prefer it to be for my server. The only mobs that are a threat after you've obtained iron armor are those that deal non-physical damage such as poison or fire (Cave spiders & Blazes).

    Suggestions:

A couple of suggestions have been made to fix this

    1) Increase Mob damage.
    2) Decrease armor damage mitigation + Decrease damage done by swords/bows

The benefit of #1 is that it's very simple and it gets the job done. The downfall is that if you don't have any armor on, it's going to suck. This may make it very difficult for new players on the server.

The benefit of #2 is that it solves the downfall of #1, but it is not as simple. If you only decrease armor's damage mitigation, you then make pvp combat shorter. In order to solve that issue, you then reduce the damage done by swords/bows. That then has the unintended consequence of mobs being harder to kill with swords/bows. Although such a consequence may be solved by increasing mob health, I kind of like the idea of mobs having both more (in effect) health and more damage :)

    Similar Plugins:

I've found a couple of plugins that do thing similar to what I'm talking about.

    Plugin A)
    http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/mech-bmobs-v1-1-complete-creature-control-766.4111/

This plugin allows you to tweak a few things with mobs in minecraft, such as how much health they have, and whether or not they burn in sunlight. Unfortunately, it does not allow you to make any changes to the damage mobs do. Also, the guy who started this hasn't been active in over a month :/

    Plugin B)
    http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/mech-mobstats-v-3-0-1-change-the-strength-of-mobs-1597.39511/

This plugin is very interesting. It has "zones" where mobs increase/decrease in the amount of damage that they deal, as well as how much health they have. The further away from spawn you go, the more more challenging the mobs get. I would be using this plugin right now for not one problem I've noticed with it: mobs do not drop experience orbs with this plugin installed.

    Final Thoughts:

Although I've proposed the ideas of changing mobs, changing armor/weapons, I am still open to any other approaches that my friends and I haven't thought of. I'm sure there are other interesting ways to tackle this issue.

If someone was capable of solving the issue with Plugin B), or creating something similar to it, I would gladly use it, although I don't want to ask for too much. Should it be the simplest approach, all I request is that mobs with physical based attacks, deal double damage instead. IE: Skeletons, Spiders (not cave spiders), Zombies, etc.

Any suggestions, offers for help or discussion would be greatly apprciated! Thank you :)

(oh and before anyone asks, I'm not 8 years old, I'm 26)
