    We recently had a massive forest fire due to lightning strikes on our server. It was raining but the fire was spreading more rapidly than the rain could put it out. Does this change that spread? I don't want to disable the strikes completely, but I have a lot of wooden structures on the server, too.

    It only makes rain and punching able to to put out fires, nothing more. It does not change fire spread in any way. Rain putting out fires will prevent forest fires though.

    Any chance on making them indivual? I want the fire punching, but we have big fire structures, I don't want them to all go from the rain.

    I'll see about that, it won't be out until tomorrow though. It's late here.

    I don't understand the logic in this plugin. It will only put out fires if the blocks in all directions (N, E, S, and W) along the x/z plane 1 away from the point of ignition are "solid"?

    What if lightning strikes the edge of a house roof? or an angled roof? or a tree?

    Is there any good reason to use sites like mediafire when dropbox is free?

    i generally love mediafire... no lame wait time put in place purely to annoy you to the point you purchase a stupid monthly subscription for the d/ler

    Try getting WorldGuard and on the config it brings out set "disable all fire spread" to on. That should prevent future forest fires.

    You have it backwards. If a block above or to the side of (not diagonally) fire is being rained on, then it will be put out. This is how it works in SSP.

    Just updated the plugin!

    Changelog:
    • Added configuration file, located at plugins/FireFix/config.yml.

    Is this not already in the game?
    Only issue I have is sometimes punching fires only puts them out temporarily, and then they will come back unless you replace the block they are appearing on.
    Would this plugin fix that?

    Sorry, I'm just confused on the purpose of this :S

    Yes, this plugin fixes that. The functionality of punching out fires (and rain putting them out... for some reason) is broken in SMP, so I made this to fix it.

    Great Plugin :D
    Also can I recommend an option that slows down fire spread-example
    Firespread=50%. For half the time
    Firespread=200% For double the time
    Fire spread=0% To stop fire spread entirely
    I don't know of this is possible, or if it will be easier without the %, just thought it would be very cool.
    Also it would be cool if you could make lightning fires spread.(configureable of course)

    Doesn't seem to be working for me, I saw a fire ignite in a rain storm and it just kept burning :/

    Also, I am contantly getting [Severe] Could not pass event BLOCK_IGNITE to FireFix (this happens in both 1.0 and 1.1).

    I am using the latest bukkit test build for MC 1.5.

    Any ideas? :/

    Getting tired of the lagfest and forest destruction that is lightning.

    EDIT: Not sure what build of 1.5 bukkit I was using, i bumped up to 709 - ill let u know if error messages persist.

    Oh I get it, you are checking if block is not solid above all those side blocks so even rain up to 1 block way will put out the fire.

    How do you know this is how SSP works? Are you sure it doesn't count diagonals/etc?

    Also in playing around with lightning strikes, I've noticed fires start UNDER a structure that was like this:

    y=Wood
    y-1=Air
    y-2=Wood

    If the lightning struck at y, I'd see a fire start at y-1. Gives me the impression lightning can start a fire up to 1 block in any direction it hits (including diagonals). Is this true? If so, a fire could theoretically start under a covered structure and your code wouldn't let the rain put it out since there are solid blocks above the block on fire.

    I know that's how SSP works, I tested it all myself. And as for fire starting under a sheltered area, it would happen in SSP too, so I won't do anything to prevent that.

    And for anyone wanting to control fire spread, use WorldGuard. My plugin does not and will not have fire spread controls, it's only a fix for broken functionality.

    Good to know. I think I'm just seeking clarification mostly. And I love the concept of focusing a plugin to replicate SSP functionality. Good work!

    Hello.

    Can we extinguish fires with a simple command like /stopfire ???

    I guess the punch feature would work for netherrack, making this useful in the nether, I guess... since Bukkit already fixes the wood glitch.

    Don't forget that if you light fire to, say, stone, then try to punch it out before it goes out naturally, it stays lit permanently. That is why we have this plugin. Unfortunately, for me it causes even more glitches - it actually stops rain from putting out fire with the new update.

    Another update has been released!

    Changelog:

    Version 1.2
    * Removed rain extinguishing fire fix, as this was fixed in Bukkit build 730.
    * Removed configuration, it's no longer needed when there's just one feature.
    * If you're still using a Bukkit build before 730 (UPGRADE!), then <Edit by Moderator: Redacted mediafire url>

    I don't see a reason to add this to CraftBukkitUpToDate, it probably won't be updated for awhile anyways, the only updates will be for Bukkit compatibility. So... I'll just stick with MediaFire. If there's ever a problem with the MediaFire link, I'll use DropBox as a mirror.

    Here's another small update!

    Changelog:

    Version 1.3
    • Made the fire punch code more efficient and reliable, it's now more efficient than Superman!
