DispNameChanger 3.o - Change anybody's display name!​

DispNameChanger is a plugin that lets you easily change your display name or any other player's display name. I know there are other plugins that do this, but I think this is the only one (aside from /nick in essentials) that allows you to change YOUR name and ANYONE's name and permissions support. It now saves your name after you leave and loads it when you come back! *NEW* With Spout, this plugin also changes the name above the player's head and sends you a fancy notification!

Features:

• Change the display name of a specified player, including yourself
• Spout: If installed, changes player's names above heads
• Permissions Support (Default is Permissions 2.7.x or 3.x) if not found, uses SuperPerms
• PERSISTENCE! (Thanks to @Sammy for that one, he helped me a TON)
• Supports Colors! (Thanks to @itsatacoshop247)
• IMPORTANT: This plugin conflicts with Essentials, it doesn't work with this plugin. If you have essentials, you can just use /nick and change the nickname character to '' in the config, so it basically does the same thing :)

The permissions default to the Permissions Plugin 2.7.x or 3.x
If you don't have it installed it uses SuperPerms(PermissionsBukkit, bPermissions)
Commands:

• /rename <player> <new> - Changes the specified player to the specified name
• /rename <player> - Resets the player's name
• /rename - Reset's your own name
• /checkname <player> - Checks the player's name (Not really working)

The display name doesn't work for other commands. When I use the teleport system of Admincmd, I have to use the real username. For example if my real username was DBSZ and I changed it to IronPixel with your plugin, players would have to type /tp dbsz and not Ironpixel that is display name. I have seen other alias plugins work this out, but they don't have all the features this one has.

Please make the display name usable for other commands like teleport, thanks

 

I did post the error. It was right there at the end of my message. "An internal error occurred while attempting to perform this command"

yeh, and those who do have the brains to make it work. us average people are stuck with normal ops coz we cant work out permissions

 

This … isn't a very helpful error message. This is a error message from CraftBukkit, when a command fails. But there is no reason/stacktrace etc. Your console output instead could be helpful (I'm not the dev so I'm not sure if it helps).

But it looks like, there is something wrong with the database from Bukkit.

Yes I didn't think so The second consol report I listed in my last reply is what I get when I try to change a name. So, when I change a name, in game I get

While, at the same time, in console I get

It says your database is corrupt, try deleting it and making a new one..

actually quite sick of this. permissions simply don't work. Even typing commands into the server command box does nothing. And i cant post the error I get because bukkit wont let me copy/paste. it ends with
...7more and has a lot of java.lang Classexception stuff if that helps

And it might be broken because of ColouredConsoleSender, but I'll check tonight.

 

never been able to copy/paste text out of bukkit, thought it was just like that with everyone. I'll try re-installing latest build.
also, never heard of ColouredConsoleSender, is it a plugin? If so, I dont have it

You're using a plugin that alters display names, or essentials, or you didn't set alter chat in towny to false.

 

on my server, it says i do not have permission to rename myself?

aww maaan!cant get permissions to work. (probably more me than u actually) so console support would be great if possible

also, a tutorial on exactly what to type int permissions would be greatly appreciated, like something i could just copy/paste to give admins permission for this, coz i really suck at permissions

I want to use this plugin but I use an other plugin to change players' titles (SpoutPlayers). Is there any way I can disable the Spout features for this plugin?

 

Excuse me but is this plugin still in development ? Because whenever I launch it with my server that is using the latest version of bukkit it crashes the server and then when the server sorts it's self out it crashes again if I use /rename command or if someone with a spoutcraft client logs in

 

The plugin still works, so it isn't really "in development".

 

Oh right... I just wanted to ask because I wanted to know if there is something you could help me with/fix basically when ever I rename someone it still says their real minecraft name in chat I was wondering possible if you knew why it is doing that or something..

And another problem is that when someone dies it basically says "their REAL name" went up in flames or something I was wondering if you could fix this . thanks

 

You're chat plugin isn't my problem. And I didn't edit the plugin for the new death announcements, and I won't be.
