Problem/Bug I portforwrded but people cant join

192.168.1.188 is my ipv4 address

server-port=25565
server-ip=192.168.1.188

i can join with my Ipv4 address when the server is up (duh)
but i cant join with my public ip, nor can my friends
what did i do wrong

I'm having the same problem. I used to be able to play with my friends with the server hosted on my pc alot before, but then one day after a update it couldn't anymore. I've literally tried everything. PS: does it matter if online mode is set to false, cause it usually worked in earlier versions when it was set to false.

 

ok, but other people still cant connect. only people on my local network can connect, ive done the port forward thing, and i used whatsmyip to scan for port 25565 and it said open. People get the following message when they try to connect: "Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."
please help

would it help if i give you my ip then you can connect and see?

I gave them my public ip and yes, the ip in the server.properties is empty, but i tried with an ip in there aswell but that also didnt work.

 

Yes, but i use a vodafone usb modem and connect to the internet using a dial-up connection using that modem, so my public ip is my local ip.

 

I had this suspicion, but I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks for your help.
