How long will bukkit be around you think?

Hi, You know I've never actually thought about this but now I'm really starting to wonder as to how long bukkit will be around or what do you think? My guess is long as minecraft is still around. There are so many servers out there that rely on bukkit that if the bukkit project were to go down those servers would maybe decide to shut down as well. This has just came to my mind and I'm getting a little curious. But the real question is what would you do if the bukkit project went down?

 

No idea, but yes it'd probably be around as long as minecraft is still here.

If bukkit went down, they'd look for alternatives.

Sorry just felt adding that. However, a more realistic situation would be that the main bukkit staff joins
mojang. Don't have time to work on it,.. some other staff takes over and it would become crap.
So best solution: @BukkitStaff Do no join mojang, support this community

 

If the future minecraft api is good enough, i think bukkit won't be necessary anymore. But it probably will be around for much longer after that api comes.

Probably when the modding API comes out, but that is taking forever.

 

For everyone who keeps saying up to when the modding comes out, I think they scrapped it and abandoned it personally.
If you haven't noticed, the Git repo was nuked and dev.minecraft.net displays a blank page.

 

Whenever something comes out that invalidates bukkit, either by being significantly better (which I highly doubt) or when something official comes out that has all the same functionality (which I also highly doubt for at least another year)

 

Without minecraft, alot more people would be going to college.
