    ~MobMounts~
Get special effects by letting mobs sit on your shoulder!
    About:

So I was thinking of making a plugin that gives user special effects, like faster movement speed, less fall damage, more health and more, but I never came up with a good way to give those to time, instead of just plain "having" them all the time via a permission node.I wanted people to actually work to get these.
Basically what this plugin will do is, you will have to try to "catch" a monster or animal with a specific item and if you succeed they will sit on your shoulder, as in mounts ontop of you. Different mounts give you different effects. This plugin will support permissions and maybe I'll add an option to purchase mounts with an economy plugin aswell.
    For the lazy people:
    Features:
    • Give monster/animals a specific item and they will mount ontop of you
    • Monster/animals give special effects to the player
    • Permission support
    How the "catching" part works:
Basically you will have to get the mobs to "lower" health (can be disabled in the config), then right click them with the specific item (configureable) and at a specific rate (configureable!) the monster will mount you and you recieve the special effect.

Monsters/Animals & Effects (not final yet, taking suggestions):

Squid - Player can breathe underwater
Creeper - Player Explodes upon death
Chicken - Either reduced/no fall damage or flying (unlikely)
Slime - (possibly) faster mining speed? Need ideas for it
    Skeleton - Personal Arrow turret?
    Spider - Bigger Jumps/More movespeed?
Zombie - More HP or Higher damage
Pig - Extra inventory? As in portable chest?
    Sheep - No plans yet
    Cow -No plans yet
    Wolf - No plans yet

All of these will have permission support, so you can set which ones are actually possible to get.

    What is already done:
    • Mobs mount ontop of the player
    • Mobs only accept a specific item
    • Config file

    What is still to do:
    • Effects
    • Takes away the item per try
    • Chance of failure
    • Permission support
    • Stop monsters from moving

Thats it, I hope to finish this plugin within a week. If someone steals my idea I will personally rip out your balls and sell them :)

Could you also add permissions 3. support because my server use heroes and runs only with permissions 3. and I really love your plugin.

For the cow food could give more health. And for the wolf maybe you don't need bones to tame others.

Hmm good idea! Not sure about the Wolf tho :p

Also I think I'm gonna make it so that if you have a sheep on you wolfs will start to attack you if not tamed xD

I think the following will be quite good:
Sheep: More heart (Wool give warmth)
    Cow: Bonus Defense Points (Leather?)
Wolf: Can be ride on like Pigs, except they can be controlled and damages mobs say:
I am on a wolf, I hit a cow and the wolf immediately starts to attack the cow WHILE you're sitting on it.
Slime: Produces slimeballs? We all know slimeballs are rare, if we tame one, perhaps it could drop slimeballs without actually hurting it thus killing it?

Also, the "Catching" part reminds me of pokemon. Ahh, the good old days when I used to play Pokemon Blue and Red.
Adding that would be actually quite cool.

It will also be cool if you add the Wolf Tame animation (The one with many hearts floating on top of the head of the wolf) to the mob you tame.

Well, this is just plain talking. I understand what its like making a plugin (@[email protected]), hope you like my suggestions :)
If I use this on my server... BOOM, its going to be a "Mob Taming Spree" and their all going to mount creepers (Guaranteed) :D
Love this plugin, keep it going! Can't wait until its released

I like the slime idea D: Could be cool, but it would only drop slimeballs on a pretty big cooldown :p Or they would somehow use up.

Perhaps you could make it so that if certain amount of slime balls are dropped, they turn into smaller slimes?
Giant Slime drop 10 and turns into medium
Medium drops 5 and turns into small
    small drop 2 and disappear?

Oh! Idea! You should add Spout support! So when a mob is on shoulder, a box will appear on the screen telling you what power you have! And give you power to be disguised as the mob!

Hmm not spout, i think a chatmessage telling them what power they have is enough xD Besides mobdisguise already does the last part ^^

For the sheep, if you got it on your shoulders you can sleep without needing a bed maybe. Like using it as a pillow :D

I dont think the bed thing is a good idea xD Sleeping is already useless with a bed ^^

But just so u guys know, I didnt give up on this yet.

Sadly I have a very long workday and when I get home I mostly go to bed right away because I'm so tired, but I'll work on it thursday & wednesday.

Also my server machine needs some work so this will still take a while!

It looks... pretty weird atm tho D: The mobs push you around because they still move :/ need to find a good way to stop em from doing that

    Lolmewn Retired Staff

Ye, I imagin that being difficult, since there's no mob_move event :p ( that would cause crazy lags too).

    Pencil

Why is that so? There is a player_move event, why not a entity_move event? I mean if you have 100 players moving, or a few hundret mobs moving :p Where is the difference? ^^ The problem is that currently I compare locations, if the mob isnt on the same spot anymore, he moved and he gets reset. Sadly that doesn't work very well for me because the mob still move :/

Well, if I use WE's /butcher, I kill 200 mobs. That's 200x more than the number of players, so 200x more lag.

    Pencil

but players dont lag because of the event ^^ they lag because of loaded chunks :p

Could having a wolf on your shoulder give you massive attack strength? So maybe like punching a person would be like chopping them with an iron sword?

  28. Offline

    Pencil

Maybe :D But it would probably be a bit OP XD

    pmx

maybe after a few hits the wolf would be tired and couldnt help you any more so then you'd need to let him rest or get a new one.

    Actually, it is! :D
You just right click a wall while the spider is mounted, and the plugin sends a block change to a ladder! :D
The player can climb the ladder this way! (well,he will get kicked for flying, but still...)
