    If you enjoy fighting monsters for glorious prizes or just the sheer thrill of battle, you and your friends can now join forces against hordes of Minecraft evils in the exciting gladiator-style survival mini-game MobArena!

    Heavily inspired by Deminetix' Fight-plugin, MobArena is a PvE-take on arena-gameplay, with a similar class-based system. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with them to beat oncoming waves of monsters, earning rewards in the process. MobArena can be played alone, or with as many friends as you like!

    Note: When you post a bug report, please provide a stacktrace/error from the server log/console window. Post this stacktrace in either a pastebin, a pastie, or a CODE-block!     I have set up a Wiki for MobArena. It contains a bunch of information and guides on how to set up and customize arenas, an overview of all the commands, how to set up Permissions, as well as frequently asked questions.

    Troubleshooting:
    To avoid wasting not only your own time, but mine as well, I expect everyone to do some extensive troubleshooting before posting bug reports. What does this mean?

    Try MobArena on a fresh server.
    MobArena works perfectly fine when I release it. Sure, there are a few bugs, but it works. If it doesn't work for you, something is most likely wrong on your end. Set up a local test-server, and verify that MobArena works before claiming that it doesn't. When you have verified that MobArena does indeed work, you can start adding other plugins and settings until something conflicts.

    Disable other plugins.
    The first thing you need to do is disable all other plugins. If you can't reproduce the bug with other plugins disabled, you know that you have a conflicting plugin. Now perform a binary search on the other plugins, or if you don't know how to do that, just add a couple of plugins back to the plugins-folder, try to reproduce the bug, and if you can't, the conflicting plugin must be in the remaining set of plugins.

    Write down reproduction steps.
    Figure out the exact steps to reproduce/trigger the bug. I need precise steps, and as much information as possible, because there are often many things that could be going on. An example of reproduction steps could be:
    1. Type /ma join
    2. Punch the Archer class sign
    3. Wait for someone else to join
    4. Punch the iron block
    5. Type /ma leave before the other player picks a class

    Check the console window/server.log
    Make sure you check the server.log file for any MobArena errors or exceptions. If you find any, copy the ENTIRE exception (including all the lines that say "at com.garbagemule.MobArena...") and paste it (with the other information) in a CODE-tag here in the thread.

    • Updated for CB 1337.
    • The repair-delay node is now unused! The reason for this is that it is now possible (with the release of 1317) to cancel block damage in explosions, and still retain the animation and sound! This also means that arenas should be fully pistons-compatible (for arenas that don't use soft-restore or force-restore)! I'm hoping to see some screenshots and videos of shifting arenas! :)
    • You can now right-click signs in the lobby! I finally found a super easy solution to the improperly updating inventory issue with right-clicking class signs. The result is that players can now left- or right-click as they please. This should solve all issues related to players not being able to choose classes, due to spawn region and WorldGuard/Factions/whatever conflicts.
    • It is no longer possible to warp out of the lobby.
    • New per-arena setting: final-wave - Allows for setting a final wave, meaning on that wave, the arena will end, regardless of how many players are alive.

    • Added the three new mob types, Enderman/Endermen, CaveSpider/CaveSpiders, Silverfish. They can be used just like the other mob types in the waves.

    • Added two new boss abilities: 'shuffle-positions' and 'flood'. Try them out!
    • Players disconnecting/crashing during an arena session no longer get corrupted data files due to economy rewards.
    • Weapon durability is now correctly set to "unlimited".
    • Item sub-types (cocoa beans, bonemeal, colored wool, etc.) now work again.
    • Players can no longer join the arena without first picking a class.
    • MobArena now works with spawn-monsters=false again.
    Version 0.94 (open)

    • Completely revamped the waves system! Undeniably the biggest feature in MobArena since multiple arenas in v0.92, the new customizable waves are guaranteed to bring much more awesomeness to your MobArenas. The waves system brings two new wave types, swarm waves and boss waves. The latter is a very elaborate feature, and the whole waves system has been given its own page on the Wiki. Note: MobArena will ignore all old wave settings, but use sane defaults.
    • Revamped the logging system. Instead of logging: true, you can now use logging: yml/xml. The logging system will now keep track of the last session only, but also maintain a collection of 'totals' for each arena. The idea behind these easy-to-parse files is making the stats available on server web pages.
    • Added SuperPerms/PermissionsBukkit support. Note that specifying mobarena.arenas.* and mobarena.classes.* probably won't work, but these nodes are given to everyone by default.
    • Added Spout support. Currently, the only Spouty thing MobArena does is print (some) announcements as notifications/achievements. This should limit the amount of "chat spam" that MobArena produces. Other Spout-features are planned, but don't expect something crazy. Note that MobArena does NOT require Spout!
    • Monsters will no longer target pet wolves. This is a major nerf to pet classes, but they were very overpowered as it was.
    • Fixed item amounts greater than 64 sometimes bugging out. You should now be able to put arrow:1024 for your Archer classes :)
    • Fixed players losing their stored items and/or earned rewards upon disconnecting from the arena.
    • Fixed blocks not restoring when burned by fire.
    • Fixed an issue with entry fees. They should no longer cause any problems.
    • Fixed slimes. That's right! Slimes that spawn as a result of bigger slimes splitting upon death are now considered arena monsters. This also means that Slimes no longer drop slime balls; as intended.
    • Revamped the repairing algorithm. It is now MUCH more sophisticated, and is capable of repairing not only signs and containers, but also torches, doors and beds. Redstone -should- repair properly as well, but it is still slightly buggy.
    • Added support for restorable containers. Registered chests, dispensers, and furnaces will have their contents stored upon arena start, and restored at arena end. This is useful for providing the arena players with chests with e.g. upgrades or food.
    • Added new commands (for the feature above) - /ma addcontainer <name>, /ma delcontainer <name>, /ma containers. These commands work much like the the spawnpoint commands. To add a container, simply look at the container and type /ma addcontainer <name>.

    Finally got to test it now. What an amazing plugin, and not found a bug so far lol, usually things break when you instantly let 50 people use it :D

    I would love a permission node for joining at least.

    @Icedew123 - MobArena requires spawn-monsters=true, unfortunately. I don't know if there is a way around that, but I'll look into it :)

    @Safwah - You have a conflicting plugin.

    @Missnostalgia - Pet classes are definitely on the drawing board, but it's difficult to incorporate them without putting a bunch of checks everywhere in the code. Maybe in v1.0 :) I will be looking at preventing mobs from spawning in the arena unless they are spawned by MobArena, but like with the wolves, it requires a bunch of different checks, and I'm not sure how to do it :( TNT should despawn like any other block at arena end, but I haven't actually tried it yet. Is it only TNT? If not, you probably have a conflicting plugin.

    @omerdn1 - MobArena fully supports multiple worlds. Read the first step of the config-file instructions (and the FAQ) :)

    @iMattxC - Very cool arena! Love the spectator area! I'm really liking the mossy cobblestone obstacles! It gives an extra challenge, but also lots of room for developing tactics. Well done! :) About iConomy, read the FAQ.

    @Joy - I'm glad it's working out for you! And very happy to hear from someone on a large server. Please keep me updated with any bugs that you think might be a result of 10+ players using MobArena at the same time :)

    Would be awesome if this addon includes the "ZombieAttack" plugin so the monster can destroy blocks placed by players. would be awesome for some hard survival arena :] maybe 3 archers 1 tank in a house and wait for zombie attack xD... make me think of call of duty ww/bo zombies ^^

    @Tee - Not gonna happen. "zombieattack" is closed source, and there's no way of hooking into it. I'm not going to have MobArena do 10 different checks to see if certain plugins are installed before letting a block break event happen or not. It's just way too much overhead, and way too much code for such a small thing, and it will cause MobArena to be jerky and laggy as all heck. Sorry :(

    Request:

    Implement this feature: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/misc-plgdisablecmd-v1-3-disable-given-commands-818.6504/ inside MobArena. Thus a list of /commands that will be ignored when the player is in an Arena, lobby as well of course.

    This would allow me to have the Arena on our main world (thus not having to meddle with complexer permissions), but still disable many things I don't want users to do in the Arena. Such as /magiccarpet.

    Would be great!

    I got this error on a reload of the plugin, have seen it before with some plugins, something about not cleanly reloading? Not sure :p

    I figured it out! Wolves weren't spawning on my server cuz i had bzone plugin installed, and it was controlling what mobs could spawn in the wilderness, thus stopping all of your special mobs from spawning.
    I got rid of the wilderness controls, and everything works perfectly now! Once again, great job with this plugin.

    I have a suggestion, it would be great if there was some sort of ticket system to allow people to /ma join, for example, have only 5 pieces of paper in their inv or some configurable item & amount required to join/start a game. Mainly this is just to control ppl making endless runs against the mob arena for no cost.

    Last set of replies for today. Gotta get my study on!

    @heroanth2345 & @PinkHell - Bonuses is possible, but it's way too much work to implement at this point in time. Lots of testing required too.

    @Cowmaster - I should make a list of plugins that may interfere with MobArena. I knew you had a conflicting plugin! Entry fee sounds plausible. Maybe in v1.0 :)

    @Joy - I might look into the disabling of commands. The exception is caused by a conflicting plugin. You probably have a plugin that's trying to use the same alias as MobArena. If that exception happens all the time, try typing /ma in-game, and see what kind of response you get. You should get a response from the culprit plugin.

    Huh, but rewards already improve with each wave, why would you need to configure that ingame...

    Request:

    I would like to be able to specify a cooldown, X minutes after end of an Arena game, join commands are disabled, or something like that.

    I have no other plugin using /ma ><

    I forgot to mention I used plugman to do the reload. Not an full /reload, as those are horrible with 100+ plugins ;)

    Another request:

    Some command to show a list of people who have joined but not readied, or a list that shows both. With the lobby full, it's problematic when someone hasnt readied :/

    Possibly make a 4th spawn point where you get ported when you ready up?

    No not that way, like each round you gain an amount of cookies (example) but instead of having them AFTER the game, you can have while playing the game so you can use them

    For some reason, the only people who can play is ops. All the others can do the /ma join command but when it comes to choosing a class, they can't. Any ideas of what going on? Just to be clear ops can choose there classes and do everything. I just don't want to have to op everyone just to play.

    People found out that they have access to their virtualchest inside of arena and now they are cheating with it. :p

    Could you see if there would be any way to prevent this? Would be great :)

    Ok, another issue for me...
    Arena is working fine so far, but after a while (3-5 rounds) the arena gets broken.
    Thats means exactly:
    we are joining, selecting classes and everybody clicks the ironblock... but the round wont start anymore.
    I dont know what the cause is, there is also no errormessage in console and the only way to fix is a serverrestart, but i cannot restart the server every 10 minutes just to keep the arena running oO

    First an foremost, thank you for creating this plugin. Around 35 members of our server told me to thank the maker of the plugin :) We run a 40 slot server in which there wasn't that much communication, we have seperate cities and had on plots to people. This makes that people (most of the time) are just busy doing what they wanna do for themselfs but tonight we had a breakthrough :D We have been trying to get the most of the plugin and worked on it for a few hours. We (and our members) are very pleased with what we got! :D I'll post pictures below of our Arena (sorry I couldn't get a picture of an empty arena since we opened it)!

    We made a few custom class and tweaked the wave-rewards a littlebit. We're just testing how this works and will tweak them while we go.

    As for suggestions for updates for the plugin, we have few! I don't know how hard it is to code these but they would help us out.

    We would like to "close" and "open" the arena, With normally around 40 members online at a time it becomes a little tricky to remove the IronBlocks in the Lobby to stop and let us tweak things.

    We also wonder if it's possible to change the amount of mobs and/or the timer of the waves. Since the time drasticly changes with every wave. So far we made it to wave 26 ;) Well 1 guy did.

    The last suggestion is to be able to have a timer in the lobby. I dont really know the answer to this but maybe something can be done with a timer, cause we had players just staying in the lobby just to annoy other people.

    Is is possible to make so people in arena/lobby cant use teleport/home command ? Had to remove my home plugin since people could use it when they was in the lobby just to get the items :( Not even sure myself how that even could work out.

    It's a shame there are no blocked commands with the plugin. The only way I'd get this to work with my server is to give everyone a wooden sword. Otherwise they would just farm out all the items through the /sell command or just going to spawn to keep them rather then killing monsters.

    Yes, I agree that blocked commands is a much-needed feature. It didn't took long before people figured out they can /home out of the arena with the spawned gear.

    Edit: I actually solved my previous problem but now i have a new one.
    Everytime I open Notepad my previous format is lost.
    Instead the words go straight across but have the necessary amount of spaces in between them.
    This makes it very difficult to go back ad edit it.
    Is there any way to retain the format that I used(which is just a direct copy off the tutorial)?

    This is a great plugin, and one of the servers i play on uses this, but we have a problem. Some of the people waarp to the lobby, pick a class then uses /suicide or /killmyself to drop all the items on the lobby, letting everyone get more than 1 class worth of items at once. Is it possible you can either disable these 2 commands in the lobby, or make it so they dont drop when you use it? Thanks, and keep up the great work.

    Ya, thats 1 of the problems we are having.

    The other is mob-drops. Players are crafting wool blocks out of the string dropped by the spiders and making corner huts... crafty 'lil buggers, no?

    maybe i can blacklist wool in the arena area. gonna go check into it

    EDIT: Almost forgot, this plugin is friggin FUN! thanks for the greatness! looking forward to seeing whats next with it

    Garbagemule is already checking into removing mob drops from the arena, so crafting wool won't pose a problem as soon as he gets around to implementing it.

    As for people cheating, it's very hard to prevent it, seeing as there are quite a few plugins out there that can provide some way of either giving the items to other people or keeping stuff you shouldn't be able to, and it'll be very taxing to blacklist all of them. Maybe you should enforce some harsh punishment on exploiters instead?

    Every once in a while i will experience a bug which boots everyone from the server and says this

    21:28:15 [SEVERE] Could not pass event PLAYER_INTERACT to MobArena
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    1 more thing. since i set spiders:0, i think it pegged out my cpu. started stressing the server hard. thats about all i changed, so i think thats what it was doing
