    If you enjoy fighting monsters for glorious prizes or just the sheer thrill of battle, you and your friends can now join forces against hordes of Minecraft evils in the exciting gladiator-style survival mini-game MobArena!

    Heavily inspired by Deminetix' Fight-plugin, MobArena is a PvE-take on arena-gameplay, with a similar class-based system. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with them to beat oncoming waves of monsters, earning rewards in the process. MobArena can be played alone, or with as many friends as you like!

    Troubleshooting:
    To avoid wasting not only your own time, but mine as well, I expect everyone to do some extensive troubleshooting before posting bug reports. What does this mean?

    Try MobArena on a fresh server.
    MobArena works perfectly fine when I release it. Sure, there are a few bugs, but it works. If it doesn't work for you, something is most likely wrong on your end. Set up a local test-server, and verify that MobArena works before claiming that it doesn't. When you have verified that MobArena does indeed work, you can start adding other plugins and settings until something conflicts.

    Disable other plugins.
    The first thing you need to do is disable all other plugins. If you can't reproduce the bug with other plugins disabled, you know that you have a conflicting plugin. Now perform a binary search on the other plugins, or if you don't know how to do that, just add a couple of plugins back to the plugins-folder, try to reproduce the bug, and if you can't, the conflicting plugin must be in the remaining set of plugins.

    Write down reproduction steps.
    Figure out the exact steps to reproduce/trigger the bug. I need precise steps, and as much information as possible, because there are often many things that could be going on. An example of reproduction steps could be:
    1. Type /ma join
    2. Punch the Archer class sign
    3. Wait for someone else to join
    4. Punch the iron block
    5. Type /ma leave before the other player picks a class

    Check the console window/server.log
    Make sure you check the server.log file for any MobArena errors or exceptions. If you find any, copy the ENTIRE exception (including all the lines that say "at com.garbagemule.MobArena...") and paste it (with the other information) in a CODE-tag here in the thread.

    • Updated for CB 1337.
    • The repair-delay node is now unused! The reason for this is that it is now possible (with the release of 1317) to cancel block damage in explosions, and still retain the animation and sound! This also means that arenas should be fully pistons-compatible (for arenas that don't use soft-restore or force-restore)! I'm hoping to see some screenshots and videos of shifting arenas! :)
    • You can now right-click signs in the lobby! I finally found a super easy solution to the improperly updating inventory issue with right-clicking class signs. The result is that players can now left- or right-click as they please. This should solve all issues related to players not being able to choose classes, due to spawn region and WorldGuard/Factions/whatever conflicts.
    • It is no longer possible to warp out of the lobby.
    • New per-arena setting: final-wave - Allows for setting a final wave, meaning on that wave, the arena will end, regardless of how many players are alive.

    • Added the three new mob types, Enderman/Endermen, CaveSpider/CaveSpiders, Silverfish. They can be used just like the other mob types in the waves.

    • Added MagicSpells support. Use the magicspells.yml file to ban certain spells from the arena either for the whole session, or only during boss waves.
    • Fixed the Heroes death conflict. MobArena and Heroes should now play nice together. Further Heroes support is planned for upcoming releases.

    • Added two new boss abilities: 'shuffle-positions' and 'flood'. Try them out!
    • Players disconnecting/crashing during an arena session no longer get corrupted data files due to economy rewards.
    • Weapon durability is now correctly set to "unlimited".
    • Item sub-types (cocoa beans, bonemeal, colored wool, etc.) now work again.
    • Players can no longer join the arena without first picking a class.
    • MobArena now works with spawn-monsters=false again.
    Version 0.94 (open)

    • Completely revamped the waves system! Undeniably the biggest feature in MobArena since multiple arenas in v0.92, the new customizable waves are guaranteed to bring much more awesomeness to your MobArenas. The waves system brings two new wave types, swarm waves and boss waves. The latter is a very elaborate feature, and the whole waves system has been given its own page on the Wiki. Note: MobArena will ignore all old wave settings, but use sane defaults.
    • Revamped the logging system. Instead of logging: true, you can now use logging: yml/xml. The logging system will now keep track of the last session only, but also maintain a collection of 'totals' for each arena. The idea behind these easy-to-parse files is making the stats available on server web pages.
    • Added SuperPerms/PermissionsBukkit support. Note that specifying mobarena.arenas.* and mobarena.classes.* probably won't work, but these nodes are given to everyone by default.
    • Added Spout support. Currently, the only Spouty thing MobArena does is print (some) announcements as notifications/achievements. This should limit the amount of "chat spam" that MobArena produces. Other Spout-features are planned, but don't expect something crazy. Note that MobArena does NOT require Spout!
    • Monsters will no longer target pet wolves. This is a major nerf to pet classes, but they were very overpowered as it was.
    • Fixed item amounts greater than 64 sometimes bugging out. You should now be able to put arrow:1024 for your Archer classes :)
    • Fixed players losing their stored items and/or earned rewards upon disconnecting from the arena.
    • Fixed blocks not restoring when burned by fire.
    • Fixed an issue with entry fees. They should no longer cause any problems.
    • Fixed slimes. That's right! Slimes that spawn as a result of bigger slimes splitting upon death are now considered arena monsters. This also means that Slimes no longer drop slime balls; as intended.
    • Revamped the repairing algorithm. It is now MUCH more sophisticated, and is capable of repairing not only signs and containers, but also torches, doors and beds. Redstone -should- repair properly as well, but it is still slightly buggy.
    • Added support for restorable containers. Registered chests, dispensers, and furnaces will have their contents stored upon arena start, and restored at arena end. This is useful for providing the arena players with chests with e.g. upgrades or food.
    • Added new commands (for the feature above) - /ma addcontainer <name>, /ma delcontainer <name>, /ma containers. These commands work much like the the spawnpoint commands. To add a container, simply look at the container and type /ma addcontainer <name>.

    Im having the problem that Player that die in Arena drop a huge amount of xp-orbs!
    monster-exp: false
    keep-exp: true or false in both situations

    could it be a problem with DeathControl? Normaly when my Players die noone should drop xp!

    owenftw Its not buggy, there are very few "bugs" most of the problems come from users doing things they we weren't expecting with the plugin. There are some scenarios that have not been accounted for so it breaks down. But it's fine. However it's your sever and you run it how you want, we don't get paid from you using it so we won't force you :)

    I have a bug to report, I made my dungeon with MA and everything works perfect using the new spawn points features, just 1 issue, if my players are far enough away when mobs spawn, MA just skips over the wave and keeps going, eventually itll stop skipping, then when the players reach where the mobs are, the mobs are actually real monsters and MA just stops working

    you can, and only garbagemule can edit that page. add iron_golem as a monster and they should spawn. if that doesn't work try it as irongolem, but I'm pretty sure you need the underscore in there.

    This has to be the greatest plugin I've ever seen. Too bad it is on hiatus/discontinued/etc.

    Anyway, my server is running both Towny and MobArena. The arena is in a server-owned town for protection. If it's not then any player can come along and establish a new town where the arena is and "take it over".

    Everything is working fine except for the default Oddjob class, which cannot use tnt or fire due to Towny's permissions. If I enable those through Towny then people will be able to build/destroy/grief in the area where the arena is. If I use /ma addclassperm (or whatever the command is), then MobArena *refuses* to add any towny-based permission to the Oddjob class that would enable tnt and fire.

    How have other people dealt with this problem, short of removing any tnt or fire abilities from classes? Again, if I remove the arena from the town then anyone can come along and claim the area and take ownership of the arena.

    One other issue I'm having is the spawning of mobs in the town where the arena is located. There are endless labyrinths beneath the arena that are sealed off. Towny allows the disabling of mob spawning within these boundaries, except disabling mob spawning also zaps any mobs in the arena a few seconds after they are spawned. So to remedy this I have to allow mobs in the plots where the arena is. The result of this is the spawning of hundreds of mobs both above and below the arena, causing instant and very intense server lag since the arena is near all of these labyrinths.

    Does this mean that all arenas need to either be above ground or in the ocean? Or is there a solution for allowing mobs in the plots where the arena is, but not spawning countless mobs in the town even when there is no arena session in play?

    Maybe add another area where MA is at a higher priority and allow fire just in that area? Light the areas up underneath maybe?

    yes, click the link that says "latest bleeding build: v0.94.4.64". It actually links to v0.94.4.65 which is built against 1.2.5

    also as an FYI, unless Bukkit says plugins will break (like 1.1-R4 to 1.1-R5+ transition), you should be able to continue using the current plugins through new updates :)

    This plugin really needs a setting so all players get rewards for waves until the entire team dies. This way players don't feel like they lose out on loot just because they play support and die early. This would reward players to help their team last longer instead of getting a lot less loot just because they are not a tank.

    Is it possible now, or in the future, to use MagicSpells with MobArena? It would be cool to create some caster classes like druids, wizards, healers, etc. The class-making possibilities would triple!

    Is it possible to have the leaderboards outside of the arena? I have three different arenas and it would be cool to have the leaderboards for all of them in one common area outside.

    And this third one is actually a bug. As I mentioned, I have those three arenas although two were disabled and only one was enabled. Of the two disabled arenas, I actually removed one from the config file although it was present in a backup copy called "Config - Copy.yml".

    I tested the enabled arena multiple times and everything was good to go, so I announced it on my server.
    This morning I found out that nobody was able to get into the enabled arena. So the first thing I did was log in my admin char to make sure MA itself was enabled. It wasn't. After enabling it and doing another test, like I had the night before, I ended up in a completely different arena.

    I then examined the config file and MA had *merged* the enabled arena with the disabled arena I had removed from the config file! All the coordinates, spawn points, bosses, were all mixed together. The disabled arena got priority when overwriting the enabled arena (none of the rewards from the enabled arena are present anymore).

    It is going to take me several hours to reconfig both of those arenas from scratch, since I'd made up a whole ton of custom bosses and carefully balanced everything. Is there any idea why this might have happened or how to prevent such a thing in the future? Like I said, the disabled arena that got merged wasn't even present in the config file, only the backup file. When I did /ma arenas last night it wasn't even listed! The other disabled arena (which remained intact through all of this) and the enabled one were the only ones in the config.

    Ugh... I've got hours of work to do.

    how can I avoid players from losing their inventory ? after loging out, they play the ma they leave the ma shortly after they logout, when they come back they have no items xD

    I finally had to just delete the folder and recreate the tree.

    So I spent about an hour making a dozen custom classes but forgot to load the new config file in the game, before making a change to the arena in the game and saving the file. Of course I lost all the hard work but this time it was my fault ;)

    After doing some experimenting with my problem I believe I've found the reproduce-able glitch.

    As long as nothing is being written to the config from the client, then edits to the file can be made on the server and then refreshed in the client using /ma config reload.

    This is true except for leaderboards. When I remove the leaderboard locs from the config file and then attempt to reload, I get the internal error message and then from that point on I must restart the server in order to clear the message and resume, no matter what I do to the config.

    That error leads me to believe that mob arena doesn't have write access to where it's trying to write, as the top line of that error points to apache, the linux webserver. I don't know anything about that, but this is the first time I'm seeing this error.

    Sorry for the delay in response, but you can indeed use MagicSpells to make more classes if you haven't played with it yet. You can give classes extra permissions that allow them to use MagicSpell abilities (provided they have the ingredients for the spell) only in the arenas using per class permissions, which are explained in the wiki. You can also put leaderboards wherever you'd like, but you can only have 1 per arena.

    As for the config issues, I've not seen any of those myself, so I can't really say what happened/what to do to avoid it in the future. I'd say just make sure you have a backup of the file after each major edit, so you don't have to redo all of that work again :( (that's never fun)

    I'm a little confused as to the config glitch you mentioned though. So when you say "written to the config from the client", do you mean from in-game when making arena coordinates or classes? or something else? Also, what's the internal error you're getting? Can you past it via http://pastebin.com please?

    I have edited the config opitons, such as auto ignite tnt, wave not start until last wave done. monsters drop exp etc etc, and nothing changes when auto generate an arena, im using latest cb and latest ma,,,,, any suggestuions? does it only affect your own arenas and notautogenerated ones? plz help,,, love the plug in apart from that,
