    If you enjoy fighting monsters for glorious prizes or just the sheer thrill of battle, you and your friends can now join forces against hordes of Minecraft evils in the exciting gladiator-style survival mini-game MobArena!

    Heavily inspired by Deminetix' Fight-plugin, MobArena is a PvE-take on arena-gameplay, with a similar class-based system. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with them to beat oncoming waves of monsters, earning rewards in the process. MobArena can be played alone, or with as many friends as you like!

    Troubleshooting:
    To avoid wasting not only your own time, but mine as well, I expect everyone to do some extensive troubleshooting before posting bug reports. What does this mean?

    Try MobArena on a fresh server.
    MobArena works perfectly fine when I release it. Sure, there are a few bugs, but it works. If it doesn't work for you, something is most likely wrong on your end. Set up a local test-server, and verify that MobArena works before claiming that it doesn't. When you have verified that MobArena does indeed work, you can start adding other plugins and settings until something conflicts.

    Disable other plugins.
    The first thing you need to do is disable all other plugins. If you can't reproduce the bug with other plugins disabled, you know that you have a conflicting plugin. Now perform a binary search on the other plugins, or if you don't know how to do that, just add a couple of plugins back to the plugins-folder, try to reproduce the bug, and if you can't, the conflicting plugin must be in the remaining set of plugins.

    Write down reproduction steps.
    Figure out the exact steps to reproduce/trigger the bug. I need precise steps, and as much information as possible, because there are often many things that could be going on. An example of reproduction steps could be:
    1. Type /ma join
    2. Punch the Archer class sign
    3. Wait for someone else to join
    4. Punch the iron block
    5. Type /ma leave before the other player picks a class

    Check the console window/server.log
    Make sure you check the server.log file for any MobArena errors or exceptions. If you find any, copy the ENTIRE exception (including all the lines that say "at com.garbagemule.MobArena...") and paste it (with the other information) in a CODE-tag here in the thread.

    • Updated for CB 1337.
    • The repair-delay node is now unused! The reason for this is that it is now possible (with the release of 1317) to cancel block damage in explosions, and still retain the animation and sound! This also means that arenas should be fully pistons-compatible (for arenas that don't use soft-restore or force-restore)! I'm hoping to see some screenshots and videos of shifting arenas! :)
    • You can now right-click signs in the lobby! I finally found a super easy solution to the improperly updating inventory issue with right-clicking class signs. The result is that players can now left- or right-click as they please. This should solve all issues related to players not being able to choose classes, due to spawn region and WorldGuard/Factions/whatever conflicts.
    • It is no longer possible to warp out of the lobby.
    • New per-arena setting: final-wave - Allows for setting a final wave, meaning on that wave, the arena will end, regardless of how many players are alive.

    • Players disconnecting/crashing during an arena session no longer get corrupted data files due to economy rewards.

    • Players can no longer join the arena without first picking a class.
    • MobArena now works with spawn-monsters=false again.
    Version 0.94 (open)

    • Completely revamped the waves system! Undeniably the biggest feature in MobArena since multiple arenas in v0.92, the new customizable waves are guaranteed to bring much more awesomeness to your MobArenas. The waves system brings two new wave types, swarm waves and boss waves. The latter is a very elaborate feature, and the whole waves system has been given its own page on the Wiki. Note: MobArena will ignore all old wave settings, but use sane defaults.
    • Revamped the logging system. Instead of logging: true, you can now use logging: yml/xml. The logging system will now keep track of the last session only, but also maintain a collection of 'totals' for each arena. The idea behind these easy-to-parse files is making the stats available on server web pages.
    • Added SuperPerms/PermissionsBukkit support. Note that specifying mobarena.arenas.* and mobarena.classes.* probably won't work, but these nodes are given to everyone by default.
    • Added Spout support. Currently, the only Spouty thing MobArena does is print (some) announcements as notifications/achievements. This should limit the amount of "chat spam" that MobArena produces. Other Spout-features are planned, but don't expect something crazy. Note that MobArena does NOT require Spout!
    • Monsters will no longer target pet wolves. This is a major nerf to pet classes, but they were very overpowered as it was.
    • Fixed item amounts greater than 64 sometimes bugging out. You should now be able to put arrow:1024 for your Archer classes :)
    • Fixed players losing their stored items and/or earned rewards upon disconnecting from the arena.
    • Fixed blocks not restoring when burned by fire.
    • Fixed an issue with entry fees. They should no longer cause any problems.
    • Fixed slimes. That's right! Slimes that spawn as a result of bigger slimes splitting upon death are now considered arena monsters. This also means that Slimes no longer drop slime balls; as intended.
    • Revamped the repairing algorithm. It is now MUCH more sophisticated, and is capable of repairing not only signs and containers, but also torches, doors and beds. Redstone -should- repair properly as well, but it is still slightly buggy.
    • Added support for restorable containers. Registered chests, dispensers, and furnaces will have their contents stored upon arena start, and restored at arena end. This is useful for providing the arena players with chests with e.g. upgrades or food.
    • Added new commands (for the feature above) - /ma addcontainer <name>, /ma delcontainer <name>, /ma containers. These commands work much like the the spawnpoint commands. To add a container, simply look at the container and type /ma addcontainer <name>.

    Thanks for this great plugin. Last devbuild work fine for me on 1.1R3.
    But i have a few questions.

    -Is it possible to create more than 1 leaderboard for the same arena?
    The up signs created good, blue colored. But nothings appear on the empty down signs. When the first original leaderboards still work normaly.

    -I've set a enderdragon boss, and when i came back to the arena, some ender portlas may create nether portal on the arena floor. Is it a know problem, and is there a solution?

    -The money awards works fine, but i'd like the items kind awards be given to the player during the arena, at the end of specified round? Clearly Wave 19, my courageous players should receive a bow and some arrow, to combact enderdragon, wave 20's boss. I never got item awards with the dev build.

    how do you set up the signs that show the players name class kills and last wave.

    When i went on this server that had mobarena, there were signs that showed all that stuff after the arena ended

    OMFG, I just configured all permissions for groupmanager, if i have to switch over ONE plugin, then this plugin is a fail and it's not worth it.

    the question is, what permissions aren't working for you? I've not used GM myself (or any of the ones since SuperPerms launched)
    Are any permissions at all working? do things work if there are no permissions given to people? (meaning only Ops can set up arenas using the in-game commands and everyone can join/pick classes)
    A little more elaboration would help :p

    K, i removed perm to join mobarena from my creative world, cuz theres a bug where u get items from creative, i used /mangaddp def -mobarena.join, and some reason they still can! is this permissions 2.x/3.x?

    tincopper2 Perms 2.x/3.x support got removed a long while ago. I'm not sure how MA plays on a creative mode world, I haven't tried. that may be causing the issue? I'm not sure.

    If groupmanager is still the same as it was in the Perms 2.x/3.x era, I doubt it will work even if all the permission nodes are perfect. If it has updated, it's an issue to take up with GM and see why it's not working.

    My extra arenas just disappeared... nobody can join them

    edit: seems to be missing scoreboard signs that triggered this

    edit: also my waves arent spawning like they are set in the config

    I have zombies wave:1, spiders and skeletons wave:5 and then ghasts, blazes, spiders, etc wave:17

    but the wave:17 monsters starts on the first wave

    MobArena uses SuperPerms in its current form. This means any permissions plugin that conforms to the STANDARD permissions API is supported, which again means that if GroupManager doesn't adhere to this standard, then GroupManager is the "failing" plugin, not MobArena :) Considering your very aggressive and seemingly impatient attitude, I suggest you either 1) remove MobArena from your server, 2) stop posting here, or 3) calm down. No one forces you to use MobArena, and if your unfortunate server setup (GroupManager is inferior to other available permissions plugins, and has been since it was first released) doesn't work with MobArena, or if you are not capable of setting it up properly, I think it's better that you just don't use it. It's a win-win situation, because you won't have a plugin incompatible with your server setup, and I won't have you spreading negativity and derogatory crap in my thread :)

    On a different note, MobArena will probably use Vault for permissions in the next release build. AFAIK, Vault has GroupManager support, and even p2/p3 support, so all you people with your obsolete server setups won't be left out in the cold anymore ;)

    To everyone else
    I'm very busy with handins this week, but I will try to get the new release out soon. In the meantime, I would very much appreciate it if you guys came on IRC, grabbed the bleeding dev build from the IRC channel topic and reported back in there with any bugs you might find.

    shanko - I ask that you please come on IRC about 10-11 hours from the time this post is written (i.e. around 10-11 PM GMT+1) so I can take a look at your full setup and see if it's a plugin conflict, or a misunderstanding on your part.

    So I installed MobArena yesterday, and it id great fun, however, i logged on today, and it appears to not be working. It claims that the arena is not set up yet, however it is. If i do /ma checkdata it tells me that basically nothing is set up... Any idea why everything would suddenly get wiped like that?

    your config.yml should have all the coordinates you set up yesterday. If it's blank, then it got wiped somehow. Mobarena does not delete anything from it's config, it would only overwrite it if you redid the commands. I'm not sure why it would wipe on you.

    Is there a maximum size for an arena? Mine is 100 x 100 x 70. When I hit the iron block, it takes like 30 seconds to load. Whenever I die, the server lags, then crashes. When I reload it, I am in the arena with the chests I used still empty and ghasts (if programmed) everywhere. Everything else checks out in the config file and I guarantee it is not a computer problem.

    Well now.. This isn't good, seeing as a fellow developer has now turned against the people coming up with lies and not willing to help with a bug fix and boasting that your plugin is good, yes, I like mob arena, but people can join from creative and when they go back to survival, all items from creative are in survival, bad? I see this as a MAJOR bug, I have the fix to my side, removing perms for mobarena from creative world disabling them from joining thus disabling the bug. If you aren't even willing to help and update plugin/see what's wrong, I don't see the point in you being a developer. -tin ;)

    Gash Dusen - Do you have force-restore: true? In that case, set it to false. If you want a destructible arena, use soft-restore: true instead.

    That did solve the remaining mobs and lag/crash problem. But when I die, I still remain in the arena in the exact spot I died.

    Also, the fire caused by the ghast explosions replaces the blocks that are supposed to reappear. There are also a couple torches missing.

    My spectator area is mostly made of glass in case that has any relevance to repawning in the spectator area. You should also know that there is a lava lake below the arena for extra challenge that might obstruct respawning if you haven't compensated for that death type.

    StevenIsBallin , I had the same problem with v94.4.5 as well, and did a quick fix by adding another layer beneath it. It doesn't prevent them from spawning down, but it allows them to jump up, or maybe set spawn a little higher. Either way, I, personally, believe the boss waves are important.

    I use this plugin on my server, and every single member uses it. We have 3, almost 4 arenas and 13 unique classes using potions, armor, weapons, and of course cake, but the one thing I haven't really seen is implementing enchanted items. Such as an archer with a punch enchant on their bow, or a knight with sharpness on his sword, or a tank with protection armor, etc. etc. If there would be ANY way you could implement enchants, I think it would only improve this outstanding mod from it's already amazing level.

    mob arena is so far one of the nicest things ive found so far. GM did a great job on the coding even if there are a few bugs. Losing inventory is frustrating but it hapens unfortunately. I got a few bugs of my own that i'm dealing with, mainly with placing containers. I want to get rid of a couple chests that are in the wrong place, but even after doing a /ma delcontainer <container>, the container respawns after another playthrough. Is there a workaround to permanently delete the chests? Stupid thing is that when i went to move the chest over one block, it respawned in the old place and now i got an invisible double chest that wont go away either.

    SB521 For a quick work around get the coordinates of the chest, /ma disable (I think thats the disable command) remove the chest, edit the config fiel for where you want it to be, put the chest back.

    It's not a solution but it should fix the problem until a full solution is done :)

It is the customers responsibility to ensure that the plugin is configured properly. Any support that is provided it done as is and has no guarantee of fixing the problem of being completed to the customers satisfaction or within a reasonable time frame.

  21. Hi! Ive been testing Your IRC, but none was there ( or maybe i typed wrong ) and ive searched in "Search this thread" but all it gives me is answer in ALL threads so im pretty pist at the moment cuz i really love this plugin.

    So to my problem ( maybe some already said it, but been searching like hell with no answer cuz this page seems have alot of buggs ), i used 373:xxx:2 as an exampel, thats a potion in numbers for those who didnt know that and it worked so people got potion for regeneration and strenght but then i upgraded both permission ( if that could have something with this to do ) and MobArena and after that he just say "Couldnt read 373" something like that.

    I tryed to type Strenght_Potion:2 ( for an exampel ) and it didnt accept that either, people dont get potions and if someone could help me i would be really happy!

    This is what the server say:

    Basically, what's happening is your version of MobArena (94.3.24) has no idea what a Potion is. You're using the 1.8 Stable build. In the Original Post there's a link to the IRC Channel (#mobarena on irc.esper.net) and in the topic of that channnel is the current development build (94.4.30) built against CraftBukkit 1.1
    Also, the way you had it set up as 373:###:2 is the best way to set it up, as technically ALL potions are ID 373, and that ### determines which one you're going to get.
     
  23. So basically ive taken an older version and thought it was the latest? Gonna upgrade now.

    Its either Strenght or regenerations potion i use.

    I think i know what may have happened. Im not sure, but i may have had the config file open on my server control panel and therefor caused it not to save the new changes i made in-game.

    garbagemule First of all, I'd like to apologize for not downloading the latest version; that should have been the first thing I did (though I had downloaded the latest about a week or two earlier). The latest version fixed the respawn problem, but not the repair problem. Ghast explosion fires still replace reappearing blocks and torches are still missing. I can work around these problems now, but I thought you should know. Thanks for the help! Awesome Plugin!

    garbagemule fantastic, now, one more idea, there's two plugins I found called AutoEnchanter and EnchantMore. Now, what is unique about these together, is that AutoEnchanter basically implements a system where you level up an enchant on an item, which is super amazing, but it lacks permission nodes. EnchantMore simply adds more enchants, which are all quite unique and useful. But lacks permissions and the ability to really implement it in game without something like TimTheEnchanter or Auto enchanter, and also no permissions. To cut to the chase, if you could create a method in which you could level up the enchant on you items via kills during the arena, it would be fantastic. So as the mobs get stronger and increase in number, you're not stuck with the same poor enchant, as well as not being overly-powerful in the begining of the MobArena. And as a P.S. Every one of my server members, myself included, love this fantastic plugin. :) (P.P.S. Sorry for such a long message, I tend to be long-winded... er... long-typed?)

    The plugin works fines for all other players except me.
    When I join im hungry and I eat porks to get the food-bar filled up. And so it does. But when I get damaged I lose like 4 food-bars. I don't know why this is happening it's soooo annoying haveing to go to my second acc just to test the arena. Please help

    Hello I recently got this plugin and I LOVE it! It has made my server twice as fun! I do have a question however.
    I am trying to create a potions only class using splash potions as weapons. I have got normal potions to work, but potions of harm are not of much use unless they are splash. Is there a list of data values for them?
    Also is there a way to make it so mobs don't drop xp?

    As for mobs not dropping experience, you'll need to be running one of the bleeding dev builds, and make sure to have the Arena setting "monster-exp: false" listed among the other settings. The bleeding dev builds can be found in the IRC channel topic linked in the OP
