    If you enjoy fighting monsters for glorious prizes or just the sheer thrill of battle, you and your friends can now join forces against hordes of Minecraft evils in the exciting gladiator-style survival mini-game MobArena!

    Heavily inspired by Deminetix' Fight-plugin, MobArena is a PvE-take on arena-gameplay, with a similar class-based system. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with them to beat oncoming waves of monsters, earning rewards in the process. MobArena can be played alone, or with as many friends as you like!

    Note: When you post a bug report, please provide a stacktrace/error from the server log/console window. Post this stacktrace in either a pastebin, a pastie, or a CODE-block! The same applies for config-files, permissions-files, etc! Please don't put them directly in your posts, as they become gigantic and annoying to read. If you don't follow this guideline, I might ignore your post!

    I have set up a Wiki for MobArena. It contains a bunch of information and guides on how to set up and customize arenas, an overview of all the commands, how to set up Permissions, as well as frequently asked questions.

    Note: This video was made for v0.67, but all the in-game instructions still work the same for the latest versions. The config-file has changed, so make sure to read the Wiki on how to set it up.

    To avoid wasting not only your own time, but mine as well, I expect everyone to do some extensive troubleshooting before posting bug reports. What does this mean?

    Try MobArena on a fresh server.
    MobArena works perfectly fine when I release it. Sure, there are a few bugs, but it works. If it doesn't work for you, something is most likely wrong on your end. Set up a local test-server, and verify that MobArena works before claiming that it doesn't. When you have verified that MobArena does indeed work, you can start adding other plugins and settings until something conflicts.

    Disable other plugins.
    The first thing you need to do is disable all other plugins. If you can't reproduce the bug with other plugins disabled, you know that you have a conflicting plugin. Now perform a binary search on the other plugins, or if you don't know how to do that, just add a couple of plugins back to the plugins-folder, try to reproduce the bug, and if you can't, the conflicting plugin must be in the remaining set of plugins.

    Write down reproduction steps.
    Figure out the exact steps to reproduce/trigger the bug. I need precise steps, and as much information as possible, because there are often many things that could be going on. An example of reproduction steps could be:
    1. Type /ma join
    2. Punch the Archer class sign
    3. Wait for someone else to join
    4. Punch the iron block
    5. Type /ma leave before the other player picks a class

    Check the console window/server.log
    Make sure you check the server.log file for any MobArena errors or exceptions. If you find any, copy the ENTIRE exception (including all the lines that say "at com.garbagemule.MobArena...") and paste it (with the other information) in a CODE-tag here in the thread.

    • Updated for CB 1337.
    • The repair-delay node is now unused! The reason for this is that it is now possible (with the release of 1317) to cancel block damage in explosions, and still retain the animation and sound! This also means that arenas should be fully pistons-compatible (for arenas that don't use soft-restore or force-restore)! I'm hoping to see some screenshots and videos of shifting arenas! :)
    • You can now right-click signs in the lobby! I finally found a super easy solution to the improperly updating inventory issue with right-clicking class signs. The result is that players can now left- or right-click as they please. This should solve all issues related to players not being able to choose classes, due to spawn region and WorldGuard/Factions/whatever conflicts.
    • It is no longer possible to warp out of the lobby.
    • New per-arena setting: final-wave - Allows for setting a final wave, meaning on that wave, the arena will end, regardless of how many players are alive.
    Version (open)

    • v0.94.3.11 - Updated Register, built against CB 1240.
    • v0.94.3.8 - Added basic leaderboards.
    • v0.94.3.6 - Fixed MagicSpells support - MobArena no longer supports MagicSpells pre-v1.1!
    • v0.94.3.5 - Fixed a bunch of bugs introduced with CB 1185, as well as a couple of minor MobArena bugs.

    • Updated economy support (now supports iConomy 6).
    • Added the three new mob types, Enderman/Endermen, CaveSpider/CaveSpiders, Silverfish. They can be used just like the other mob types in the waves.
    • Endermen cannot pick up arena blocks (this is why).
    • Endermen cannot place blocks in arena regions.
    • The per-class permission syntax has been fixed and changed slightly. The Wiki has been updated (clicky).

    • Redstone circuits now work properly in arenas.
    • Lightning now properly strikes on spawnpoints on special waves.
    • Fixed an issue where players somehow warping/cheating out of the arena world get kicked from the server when discovered.
    • Added MagicSpells support. Use the magicspells.yml file to ban certain spells from the arena either for the whole session, or only during boss waves.
    • Fixed the Heroes death conflict. MobArena and Heroes should now play nice together. Further Heroes support is planned for upcoming releases.
    • [COLOR=#1000000]MobArena will no longer support the discontinued Permissions 2.x and 3.x permission systems.[/COLOR] Recommended permissions systems include PermissionsBukkit (defacto standard) or PermissionsEX.

    • Added two new boss abilities: 'shuffle-positions' and 'flood'. Try them out!
    • Players disconnecting/crashing during an arena session no longer get corrupted data files due to economy rewards.
    • Weapon durability is now correctly set to "unlimited".
    • Item sub-types (cocoa beans, bonemeal, colored wool, etc.) now work again.
    • Players can no longer join the arena without first picking a class.
    • MobArena now works with spawn-monsters=false again.
    Version 0.94 (open)

    • Completely revamped the waves system! Undeniably the biggest feature in MobArena since multiple arenas in v0.92, the new customizable waves are guaranteed to bring much more awesomeness to your MobArenas. The waves system brings two new wave types, swarm waves and boss waves. The latter is a very elaborate feature, and the whole waves system has been given its own page on the Wiki. Note: MobArena will ignore all old wave settings, but use sane defaults.
    • Revamped the logging system. Instead of logging: true, you can now use logging: yml/xml. The logging system will now keep track of the last session only, but also maintain a collection of 'totals' for each arena. The idea behind these easy-to-parse files is making the stats available on server web pages.
    • Added SuperPerms/PermissionsBukkit support. Note that specifying mobarena.arenas.* and mobarena.classes.* probably won't work, but these nodes are given to everyone by default.
    • Added Spout support. Currently, the only Spouty thing MobArena does is print (some) announcements as notifications/achievements. This should limit the amount of "chat spam" that MobArena produces. Other Spout-features are planned, but don't expect something crazy. Note that MobArena does NOT require Spout!
    • Monsters will no longer target pet wolves. This is a major nerf to pet classes, but they were very overpowered as it was.
    • Fixed item amounts greater than 64 sometimes bugging out. You should now be able to put arrow:1024 for your Archer classes :)
    • Fixed players losing their stored items and/or earned rewards upon disconnecting from the arena.
    • Fixed blocks not restoring when burned by fire.
    • Fixed an issue with entry fees. They should no longer cause any problems.
    • Fixed slimes. That's right! Slimes that spawn as a result of bigger slimes splitting upon death are now considered arena monsters. This also means that Slimes no longer drop slime balls; as intended.
    • Revamped the repairing algorithm. It is now MUCH more sophisticated, and is capable of repairing not only signs and containers, but also torches, doors and beds. Redstone -should- repair properly as well, but it is still slightly buggy.
    • Added support for restorable containers. Registered chests, dispensers, and furnaces will have their contents stored upon arena start, and restored at arena end. This is useful for providing the arena players with chests with e.g. upgrades or food.
    • Added new commands (for the feature above) - /ma addcontainer <name>, /ma delcontainer <name>, /ma containers. These commands work much like the the spawnpoint commands. To add a container, simply look at the container and type /ma addcontainer <name>.

    i noticed that redstone does not seem to work inside of an arena, not even pressureplates.

    Is there a way to allow the server to choose which mouse button to activate signs? I use Citizens, Scrolling Menu Signs and this. Ideally I want all of them to use the same mouse button to "use/talk" to them.
    SMSigns does it with:
    normal: scrolldown
    sneak: scrollup
    ...(sniped code)
    normal: execute
    sneak: none
    Citizens doesn't have an option to change, but luckily it is set for right click (which I want).

    Sidenote, since the update I can add a confirmed that redstone/pistons/some state-based blocks don't function in the arena. I tinkered with protections and editmode- even in editmode the redstone/pistons don't function. Doors work fine.

    Thanks! Great fun with the bosses btw! Nothing like a creeper than can teleport!

    I'm not exactly sure whats going on, i just rebuilt an arena and started to program it again, the only changes i have made after the upgrade is that i added iconomy 6. Sorry in advance if its something stupid.

    The vanishing chunk issues are gone now but I changed from force-restore to restore delay: 0.

    Wow dude, I find it hard not to be insulting here but did you read the error?

    Here lemme highlight for you: Could not find the world for arena 'default'

    now lets look at the config file:

    world: world <- notice how u have to specify the world folder for multiworld arenas? and the default config has it as ' '?

    @Ctr393 - Like most other plugin conflict stuff, your flying mod/plugin needs to support MobArena, not the other way around. I can't make workarounds for every single plugin, and definitely not flying/invincibility mods/plugins. I suggest you make a new world for your arena, and ban all flying and god mode stuff from that world. Problem solved.

    @Vezorock - From what I can tell, Tribu looks like it's a plugin that you need to dedicate your entire server to. Why don't you try and see if they conflict, and let me know of the result? :)

    @NFFPokemon - This may be true, but in my tests I didn't seem to notice any such bug. Can you please provide a list of steps to reproduce the bug, starting with adding a new arena and setting that up, and checking if the redstone stuff works at any point during that process?

    @kaynide - Sorry, but MobArena will use leftclick until the inventory update bug is fixed. Like with NFFPokemon, could you maybe try adding a new arena, setting everything up, and checking if the redstone stuff works at any point during the setup process?

    @Tyrenol - Thanks for the report! I have fixed the issue with the invalid monster types in a silent update (so please re-download MobArena when you read this), but like lipe123 says, the error with the world-node is that you haven't changed it to match the world your arena resides in.

    @lipe123 - Ahh, force-restore. It's a little heavy on the system. If you want a destructible arena, I suggest that you use soft-restore. If it's just to have a "backup", I suggest making a WorldEdit schematic that you can overwrite with now and then, if necessary.

    @Mr_Mellow - Why don't you post your config-file in a pastebin so we can find out? :)

    Everything seems working fine..

    but found a little bugs

    my swords durability just consumed, and disappear..
    also how many waves are there again? i got pass the 20 and I'm still continuing till i died in wave 32

    EDIT: also I want to suggest something..? can u add remove arrows? skeleton's arrows in the floor are lagging my server

    I actually had that same problem a little earlier. You're using NoCheat aren't you. The newest update to NoCheat added a check for an infinite durability hack that cheaters could take advantage of. The problem is, enabling it seems to break the weapon durability for MobArena as well. I just disabled that check and MobArena worked fine for me afterwards.

    Oooh something I've been wondering about, essentials plugin allows you to spawn "custom slime sizes" up to 127 small slimes in one slime (which is way to big and lags the server).

    But a slime:20 is a nice and big one, about 1.5x player height and hurts like a mofo, could you allow us a config option ess-slimes: true/false
    so we can spawn slime:xx mobs for bosses and such?

  16. Amazing update, love the bosses, I hope for more abilities in the future :D

    My main request for now, please add a config flag that enables Boss waves to spawn together with normal waves. Even though bosses are entertaining, there is little strategy involved if there is no regular wave at the same time, at least, in our experience from testing.

    Would be great :D

    Well, main thing is, that it is just 40 people standing on top of a chicken slamming it. If there would be other mobs around, it would make the abilities far more interesting, something like knocking back players gets more interesting if you can get knocked into a mob wave ;)

    And then people could have a group dealing with a wave, while others deal with a boss, things like that.

    Also, can you make the possibility to make arenas in the nether? (cuz i have an village there for my players) Cuz when i make an arena there, after i type /ma join hell, the server shut down it self instantly whitout any error?!?!

    I'm loving the plugin, the new wave customization functionalities are absolutely amazing! If I could just add a few suggestions...

    -Health bar for the bosses
    -Option to add an enrage at 25% health (50% more damage perhaps, customisable), or perhaps extra abilities to be added at enrage (more damage on those, perhaps). Could be for certain mobs too, not just bosses.
    -Randomization of boss moves, and being able to set priority would be a good one too.
    -Ability to see who the boss is targeting, could be difficult to implement
    -Increased 'threat' for the tank. As an ex-WoW player (this is where most of these ideas are coming from xD), this lets people get more and more difficult bosses without having the weaker classes getting pwned by difficult bosses. I think this really would increase the experience of the players.
    -In the same vain as above, if possible making the chef able to 'use' the food on other players by left clicking to heal them would be amazing. Also, a healing bonus on themselves when healing couldn't go too far wrong either.
    -I'm still a little skeptical about archer damage, might be good if you're able to increase it by 25% or so.

    Sorry for the overly long list, I am just so enthusiastic about this plugin! Keep up the great work! =D

    @Mr_Mellow - I don't see anything wrong with your config-file. Maybe someone else can confirm this issue?

    @morizuki - I would if I knew if it was possible. The skeleton arrows on the ground don't count as entities/items, so I don't know "what" they are.

    @columb - You can customize the announcements however you want.

    @lipe123 - There are only 4 slime sizes, and they are all supported by MobArena. Look in the Wiki for the list of monster types. Just add the slime size name (tiny, small, big, huge) to the monster type in the config-file (slime_small, for instance), and that's the kind of slime that will spawn. Not specifying a size will spawn a slime of a random size between tiny, small, and big (but not huge).

    @SpiFioY - Have a look at the Bosses and Waves thread that Agnate posted (link in OP) for wave examples.

    @Joy - Which kinds of bosses have you tried? The boss abilities should (even with your massive amount of players) make the bosses a challenge with the right settings. Try a boss with psycho health, and abilities like fire-aura, lightning-aura, chain-lightning, and perhaps throw-nearby.

    @Siknote - I love your suggestions! Don't hesitate to post more of them :) Most of them are stuff that I would love to implement if it was super easy. A few comments:
    - Health bar: Possibly doable with Spout. I would also like to add a health bar for players, if it's possible to add them over their heads. If not, a health bar for players with low health and bosses only would be sufficient, I think.
    - Enrage: Would require a little bit of extra work, and might add a little extra bloat in the damage listener (which is already fairly big as it is). I will look into it.
    - Randomization of boss abilities: Possible, but would be added as a flag for bosses. The point of the sequential approach is to allow players to "learn" how the bosses behave and develop tactics accordingly. Priority is of course moot unless randomization is implemented.
    - Boss target: Again, might be possible with Spout, but difficult without. I will furthermore be looking into making bosses target the players who have dealt the most damage to them, but I can't guarantee anything.
    - Threat: Very difficult to implement, unless I make some sort of a threat calculator (could possibly be based on amount of diamond armor, though). The problem is custom classes, and having to possibly flag a class as "tank".
    - Healing: I'm reluctant to add this, as I was hoping that most of such extra features would be provided by other plugins. I expect conflicts with RPG plugins :(
    - Same as above. I think there are archer plugins that do just that, but it might be unwanted outside of MobArena. Tough call.

    Hi there, i am using MultiInv and xCraftgate for Multiworld managment on my server. But when you join the arena from another world and you are finished you are teleported back to the first world. So you cannot use the items in another world. Is there some way to fix that?

    Edit: And when i join the arena from another world, I get into the lobby but still have the items in my inventory from my other world.

    During the boss fight, sometime the boss's sprite disappeared and the arena ended up with an invisible monster that spamming the skills until everyone leave the mob arena to end it because they could not see the monster. Does this happen to anyone else?
