Shield, lets you create your very own shield in minecraft and lets you use it to protect yourself! Once installed, this plugin will greatly change your Pvp/Role-Playing experience.

How to setup config and permissions:


Features:

• Lets you create a shield by using the same recipe for a chest, but with a piece of string in the middle. **Note: The wood must be standard wooden planks**.
• Config file for... damage received, how many shields are made, and how many shields are lost per hit/attack.
• Can enable the ability to only block with the shield while crouching.
• Can enable the ability to spin a player when attacking with a shield
• Shields can't do damage (To balance the game)

Required Plugins:
A permissions plugin.

Commands:
/shield notice //Default set to true, toggles if the message is outputted to the player.

Permissions:
shield.use //Default set to true, toggles if a player can use the shield or not.

• ShieldCrouching- Makes it that players must crouch to successfully block with a shield. (Player's still must have the shield in their hand!)
• ShieldSpin- When attacking a player with a shield, it spins that player around (Doesn't work on mobs)

• Lowered the protection of the shield. It now only protects 2 hearts instead of 3. This change is only temporary because I am making a config to set the damage.

Gotta ask, does this require Spout? Most things like this do, but some people manage to pull it off sometimes... otherwise I am looking forward to trying out!!

ok, it works and runs fine with no errors but i have a quick question. What is the usage? Is it like NerdBoy's shield mod or do you hold the item in your hand to block and are unable to hold both a shield and a sword?

 

It blocks as much damage as you set in the config, default set to 2 hearts. To use it, all you have to do is hold it in your hand. You are unable to hold the shield and sword at the same time. Later on I will add a shield bash attack though, so stay tuned for more updates!

 

ok, just an idea but i think you should take from Nerdboy's Shield mod (now called forgemod or something)

If you can manage it, enable the dual wield. To remove the need for spout for the GUI though, use a /equip command maybe? Just throwing ideas around here. Send me a pm and we can maybe collab somehow? [I am good with ideas, not java ]

Is there durability to the shield use? That would be awesome if it did.

 

The shields have customizable durability, yes.

 

Sounds good but it would be cool if it was compatiable with Spout..so you can make your own custom sheilds!

 

This is a genius idea, using the piston extension block for something, since you can't place it.

I cant seem to edit the config, it just resets on me everytime. I will edit it, reload/restart the server after saving it and then it puts it back to the default configuration. Please post soon

 

You can't change the config while your server is running, because the config loads once and saves after the server shuts down. You have to shut down your server completely, change the config, save, then boot up your server. This should fix your problem.

 

Updated the plugin for 1.3! If you have updated your server, you can now protect yourself with the shield!

 

If someone holds the piston top item as the shield around me, or anyone else, all the players around the shield holder (in his chunk) get a crashed minecraft client. Any ideas?

 

just out of curiosity can u add so that we can make differ levels of the shield for example u used planks and u can set how much it blocks. so now im thinking i want to protect myself more so i think i should make a cobble shield then maybe diamond tho i dnt mind the picture being the same

Can you please further elaborate on the enchantments you want?

 

0.9 of the plugin is released! Now server owners can change what messages gets outputted when their players successfully use a shield!

 

That doesn't help at all, you need to be specific with which enchantments you want, and what you want done with them.
