Solved Essentials 1.8 Problem On Mac?

Every time I start my server a message saying "
Essentials not installed or failed to load. Essentials Protect is in emergency mode now.
" shows up in game and in the console. Removing essentials protect gets rid of the message but I can't use any commands from essentials. When I do /pl all the plugins are red except essentials antibuild and protect. I've also tried various fixes posted in the forums but none worked for me. unuspported major.minor error means that it requires Java 7 to run, and you are launching your server with Java 6

You will need to look into how to setup Java 7 on your operating system in order to use Java 7 to launch the server

 

Updating Java fixed it. Thanks!
