I need something like townychat where you have normal chat which players only receive the message within a set radius and a global chat which send to everyone.

Any such plugin exists other then townychat, ive been searching for AGES.

    Thanks.

Hello! There is a nice plugin called "iChat" that includes this option in the configuration. It also has some other nice features. I highly recommend it and you may be familiar with it. Its not very clear as to that it has a distance chat option in the download page but I have looked at the config and there is indeed an option for that. :)

EDIT: Oh and yes, there's an option for global chat too!

is ichat better than Herochat guys??

iChat is a lot simpler, HeroChat is very powerful but IMO isn't really needed unless you have a lot of players on your server and need a few different channels.

All I need is "global" "staff" and maybe even "local" will iChat cover that? thats all I need really, thanks if you can answer

Then you would probably want something like HeroChat. I am pretty sure that iChat doesn't have support for creating custom chat channels (Not 100% sure though, haven't used it in quite a while).

I've got Ichat but have no idea how to set it up to my needs. Any help?

    Thanks

Essentials also has that option. In config you set the radius you want default chat to extend and if you use ! in front of your text it will be sent globally.

When i installed essentialschat it doubles everyones prefix for example its like [Owner] [Owner] Fussionzz: MSG but its only like that in global chat. Any help?

    Necrodoom

did prefix already showed up before? if yes, issue is then caused by double chat plugins, you need to disable the old one.

    # When a command conflicts with another plugin, by default, Essentials will try to force the OTHER plugin to take
    # priority. If a command is in this list, Essentials will try to give ITSELF priority. This does not always work:
    # usually whichever plugin was updated most recently wins out. However, the full name of the command will always work.
    # For example, if WorldGuard and Essentials are both enabled, and WorldGuard takes control over /god, /essentials:god
    # will still map to Essentials, whereas it might normally get forced upon WorldGuard. Commands prefixed with an "e",
    # such as /egod, will always grant Essentials priority.
    # We should try to take priority over /god. If this doesn't work, use
    # /essentials:god or /egod. If god is set using WorldGuard, use /ungod to remove then use whichever you see fit.

fussionzz97 your problem is that you commented the format line on essentials, essentialschat section.
    change line
    #format: '<{DISPLAYNAME}> {MESSAGE}'
    to
    format: '<{DISPLAYNAME}> {MESSAGE}'

This is weird, ive put the messages.properties in the essentials server, modified a few things and is not applying after essentials reload + server reboot. Something ive missed?

Dont worry fixed it, renamed file from messages.properties to messages_en.properties

    Thanks for your help :)
