In order to centralize support of our legacy projects, we will no longer be providing support on Bukkit. Please use for support with our projects going forward.

I was wondering if you guys did something with chunk rendering. When teleporting via portal, the whole experience seems much smoother - instant even.

Yep :) Special thanks to Zeerix who wrote the original version of it! Afforess and raphfyk ported it to spout :)

  4. Wonder how long it'll be before Spout is included as part of the standard Bukkit server.

never, they attempt to accomplish too different things
  6. That's a shame imo, pushing it as standard would really help advance plugins in general and I can see an growing number of plugins supporting it and then requiring it.

Couldn't have said it better my self :p

Just wondering, but is there a way to reject clients that don't have Spout? If (after block support is done) a mod adds a bunch of blocks that a vital to the way the server operates, it might be a good idea to make a way for mods to decide how important it is that the clients have Spout, and then Spout can reject clients if necessary.

If running Spout 1.0.1 AND someone connects to your server with an OLD BukkitContrib version (0.1.3 in my tests) the server will LAG/CRASH.

    Please fix this ASAP.

The issue is that this needs a separate client, and there will never be a way to get around that. Frankly I believe that bukkit does not pull requests(a github way of sharing code) enough. The Chunk enhancements are a good example, they were shared with github, but the bukkit devs didn't add them for a while, I think they still haven't. We added it to spout because we thought it was a great idea, and it was. It really adds to performance! I have nothing against the Bukkit devs (They do an amazing job). I just believe that they should accept more pull requests

have you looked at the config file?

Okay, I'll make sure to kick BC players next release.

This is an option in the config file. ;)

My server is running fine with it. Can we get the error log of the issue? And your plugin list.

How is it possible to add new blocks with spout?

Its not yet, look at the planned features

Hey I noticed that spout client side has the HD Patcher built in, but could you guys enable it so the patcher includes "Better Grass". Besides that, great job on everything!

    It's not really our decision.

To be totally honest, the whole reason BukkitContrib, and later Spout started was because I was very frustrated at Bukkit at their slow review of pull requests and code submissions. It's a bit better today, but then I felt like it was a clique that I could not break into. I decided to screw the system and strike out on my own, and here we are. Spout is much much more open than Bukkit, we accept and review all code submissions within the same day 99% of the time, and attempt to provide better support.

It's been difficult with the BukkitContrib -> Spout transition, and I know it wasn't smooth. Personally, I got like a total of 8 hours of sleep in the 48 hours right up to and after the release. I just appreciate all the patience you've had. We're moving at a warp-speed pace and are adding features like crazy. We're hoping to get things going smoothing in a few more releases.

@Raphfrk & @Zeerix have written a multithreaded system that should reduce the load of your server when you have lots of players on, moving around and loading chunks. We're looking at other optimization in the future, possibly multithreading the lighting in chunks.

On the client side, there are a lot of memory fixes, and speed improvements taken from multiple sources.

I'm sorry - I have no idea. Anyone know?

We are planning some sort of official minimap widget, configurable in the config. I believe it's slated for 1.0.5 or 1.1.0

I can for you, and it does.

That should have been corrected and removed in Spout 1.0.1, I suggest updating. ;)

    Okay, thanks!

So if I understand this correctly, this IS a craftbukkit plugin and I can just drop it in my plugins folder on my server, restart my server and that's it if I don't expect to use any client side features but just want the server speed up stuff?

I can't get over how cool this is

Would it be possible to integrate CraftProxy with Spout? So that instead of needing to download the client to save bandwidth it would be part of the Spout client? Or would that be up to the developer of CraftProxy?

How can I force a reversion to the default texture pack (other than downloading a copy of it)?
