In order to centralize support of our legacy projects, we will no longer be providing support on Bukkit. Please use www.spout.org for support with our projects going forward.

We got the same problem over the night i Sweden. And we havent even updated the server or changed anything. We now updated to recommended build för spout server and client. Hopefully it will work.

    Ill come back with feedback.

Wow.. Really? How insulting was that?

    Show Spoiler
I see his question to be no different than a typical computer user asking "How do I install Bukkit"..... : You don't install bukkit, you need to reference it as an external jar in your project. While correct, would be wholly useless and confusing to the poster.

In the 20 years I have been in the computer industry I've developed a pretty good gut feeling on what people mean when they ask a question. Just because he said "spoutcraft" and not "spout" doesn't 100% indicate he was talking about the client. I would bet you cash money that the question from that poster was referring to getting Spout installed on a small personal server he runs for his friends. Most likely he already has the client, and either him, or one of his friends runs a small SMP server. The poster who's question I answered was a poor question and lazy and my overly simplified answer reflected that...

I have a ton of respect for you guys, and your ability to create one of the coolest minecraft enhancements so far... its a commendable achievement and huge advancement to the game, overcoming the single biggest limitation in creating multiplayer mods. Congrats.

Over the past year alone I have donated hundreds of dollars to the individual devs here, including Nijiko, Sk89q, Nossr, and most recently a donation to EvilSeph Bukkit team, and one of the spout dev's who's plugin I would like to see be further developed.

I'm a member of this forum longer than most... and have been running a 24/7 server since well before the existence of Bukkit, in the early alpha days of minecraft.

I find it annoying that following the automatic update today that took everyones server offline, a ton of people posted in the thread asking the same question without reading two posts above the one they were making, or the 4 times the same question was answered on the same page, and the page before that... Did these people even reboot their server, or try relaunching their client, let alone even bother READING before posting.

So in one of the rare instances I end up having a question, instead of responding with ANYTHING helpful, a project Dev's finds it more entertaining to insult my quick answer to an ignored new forum member.. WTF?

It's rare that I post asking anything of you guys.. I'm diligent searching through and reading existing posts, solve things on my own, try to help other server admins if they run across a similar issue that I have experienced, try not to waste peoples valuable and scarce time, and to top it off, I try to make it a point to send donations to developers of plugins I use, or would like to support the development of.

Will someone give me some kind of idea what the error I posted about is referring to... and if it can be resolved... if its a known bug, just tell me... My various searches on this thread and reading back 4 pages turned up nothing.

See Post # 4220.. and here it is again in a spoiler.

    Name of project: Spout
    Project version/build: 1.0.5.221 / 221
    CraftBukkit build: 1060
Description of issue: Stack Trace every time a user logs in..
Steps to reproduce: 102 -> 105 update (after proper completion of update)
    Link to error log: http://pastie.org/2445584

Is my error somehow related to the "CRCCache.yml" in the .\plugins\Spout\ folder? What is the function of this file?

I renamed that file and restarted the server hoping it would regenerate, checked permissions, the only thing I haven't done is go to the java source to try to figure it out myself... I'm not fluent in java, but can read code and use google to reference the language to figure stuff out..

    Help?

    Rich

The client is using 1.0.2.x when he should be using 1.0.5.x.

Hmm.. Sorry that was a typo on my part (fixed) when I wrote the project version/build in your support form. I already eliminated that possibility through testing. Take a look on your own console when you connect and disconnect.

The 1.0.5.221 promoted RB client identifies itself as 102 in the server logs, which is what lead to my error on the form... the 221 is the build number, which is 1.0.5.. I can replicate the error with a verified 1.0.5.221 client.. the stack trace is as it is shown.

Is the CRCCache.yml file related to the stack trace in any way? (Probably right?) What kind of checksums would be stored here, and what is the purpose? My file only contains the following, and is devoid of anything else but the brackets.

    Contents of CRCCache.yml file
    Code:
    {}

the onmly reason if fly mod >.> maybe build in zombe would take care of this problem (servers can block it with a message in the motd)

the file and cache manager aren't in the spout server jet?
    SpoutManager.getFileManager();
is an unknown function for the server
    spout: 228
    spoutapi: 131

Ok... I guess someone just fixed the error... maybe on the dev side? I renamed my Spout folder to let the folder regenerate, and noticed that the error went away.. examined my files, and they seem identical, other than the fact I enabled visual cheats due to the fact that the vanilla client can show entity ID's, and I don't force my players to use Spout. Why remove a feature the vanilla client has until such time as forcing spout makes sense.

I think its more likely that the client version or server version has updated...

The client now identifies itself as 1.0.5.256
and the server is identifying as 1.0.5.227

The error is gone though.. odd, since I was the only person who posted the error.... Stack Traces bug me... so my console is usually happy and clear of any error.. or the offending plugins are killed.

Yay.. my unique error healed itself....

They have said time and again not to mod spoutcraft.jar. They will not build any cheat mods in. You will have to wait for either 1.8 or the client API to be released. Or use your modded minecraft.jar when you want to fly.

Can i set the client so that it was related to the server?

That is to say: I want to do, for example, the client update, with new textures, new blocks, items, and want to players MUST UPDATE CLIENT, because we cant play on old client. May? (versions of the switch unless somehow ...)

i have something like the client downloading freezing problem, but instead of freezing, the percentage goes to the negatives, completes downloading, but then returns a 'Download timeout!' error message...

Trying to decipher what you are saying...

So you want to customize the look of the launcher and client? Easy customization options will be available in the future. So you can make it look like what you want.

You only want players to use the Spoutcraft client? You can set an option to true in the Spout config.yml on the server to require them to have it.

If players are manually installing the client mod, they won't update automatically. They have to use the Spoutcraft Launcher for that. There will be more options for updating/downgrading to certain builds/versions on the Launcher in the future. There should be some notifications to the client in-game if they are outdated too.

Odd, could you launch it from the command line and report the errors you get there?

    Code:
    java -jar Spoutcraft.jar

    From github
Will these limitations be obsolete with the releases of Spout 1.2+ ?

Those "limitations" are there to protect the user.

Do you need an account with what? You don't need an account on those sites, those are where the updates are pulled from.

Each time my server restarts after the initial startup with the new Spout build from dev bukkit it does not load. I posted the error a few pages back. What is strange; if I download the plugin again and start the server it will load Spout and spout plugins. Not sure why the jar itself is affected is being affected. Anyone else getting this problem? It makes no sense, why would the jar be changing? Using RemoteToolkit for timed restarts.
