   just a little question ...
   
   the new map format is saved as ".mca" files
   
   the old ones where ".mcr" ...
   
   the old format is still in my map folder .... and the question is .... can those be deleted ?!

   copy ur world to a desktop and than delete from original mcr and find out

   yes you can delete them, I would recommend keeping a back up of the world, from before you update and after you update. I have deleted them with no side effects.
